@jacob42452 жыл бұрын
3/5 is simple an example Dave is using to demonstrate converting fractions to percentages. 1/5 is used because you can get the answer for 3/5 as a percentage by adding the value for 1/5 as a percentage 3 times (because 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 = 3/5). Neither of these numbers are related to the example in the table of 3/10. I hope this helps!

35 % in fraction = 7/20 because 35 / 5 = 7 and 100 / 5 = 20. 0.64 in fraction = 16/25 because 64/4 = 16 and 100/4 = 25. 82% in decimal = 0.82 we just need to place the , 2 step in left side. 4/5 in decimal = 0.8 we just need to find how to set the denominator to 10 by multiplying the numerator and denominator with the same number and then move the , one step in left. 14/50 in percentage = 28% you first need to have it in the decimal value so 14 / 50 is 0.28 then you need to multiply this number per 100. 0.19 in percentage = 19% you just need to multiply this number per 100 because you already have the decimal value.
@kazziodex95615 ай бұрын
Elaborate sir. 35% can also be 35/100. How did you figure out that you needed to divide 35 with 5 ?
@supercoolninja5 ай бұрын
@@kazziodex9561 To simplify a fraction, you need to divide both the numerator (the top number) and the denominator (the bottom number) by their greatest common divisor (GCD). The GCD is the largest number that divides both the numerator and the denominator without leaving a remainder. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do this: For example, if you have the fraction 35/100 , 35 is the numerator and 100 is the denominator. List the factors of both the numerator and the denominator : Factors of 35: 1, 5, 7, 35 Factors of 100: 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100 The common factors are: 1, 5 The greatest common factor is 5. Divide both 35 and 100 by 5. So, 35/100 simplifies to 7/20. If the numerator is a prime number and it doesn't divide the denominator, the fraction is already in its simplest form. so you know that you cannot do more simple than that because 7 is a prime number, so that's how you manage to get the same number to divide with. I hope that's clear, do not hesitate if you have more question. i'm also learning maths.😃

3:51 why do u multiply both by 2? What abt for 11/16 or 5/8 or others?
@jacob42452 жыл бұрын
When you multiply both the numerator and denominator of a fraction by another whole number, the resulting fraction is equivalent to the fraction you started off with. For example, imagine a pizza cut into 4 slices, and imagine that only 1 slice of 4 has mushrooms on it. That is, 1/4 slices has mushroom. Then, imagine cutting every slice into 2 slices. Now, the whole pizza has 8 slices, so we have multiplied the total number of slices of pizza by 2, and the slice with mushrooms has also been cut into two slices, so the number of slices with mushrooms has been multiplied by 2. Now, we have 2/8 slices with mushroom on. But, since we have not added or taken away any mushroom from the pizza, these fractions, 1/4 and 2/8, must be equivalent. This is because both the numerator and denominator have been multiplied by 2. In Dave's example, he multiplies the numerator and denominator of 21/50 by 2 because he wants an equivalent fraction whose denominator is 100, so that he can compare its size to the fraction 45/100. In the cases of 11/16 and 5/8, there is no reason to multiply the numerator and denominator by any other number. I hope this helps!

I think I figured it out. I hope this helps. 35% = 7/20 is just 35÷5/100÷5, because if you multiply 7 and 20 by 5 then they become 35 and 100. 0.64 = 16/25 because 64÷4/100÷4 are 16 and 25. Same thing as above. This means that if you answered 35/100 and 64/100 (like me) then you're technically correct, it's just that your answer is rounded up to 100.
