As suggested by another commenter already, unless it was just not shown in the video, pls always grease the bb threads (any thread that is supposed to take some load, really). Then, these stamped sheet metal wrenches (like, the most basic shimano ht2 wrench) can chew up the soft bb cups easily. For the future I'd recommend getting a nut type bb tool for deeper engagement over the full circumference; something like a tacx t4435 should be dirt cheap (yea, the business end is plastic, but if you remember to always fully seat the thing, it works really well).

As I understand it the newer types of bottom brackets were necessitated due to frames made of Carbon fiber. I understand that this install was somewhat of an experiment. Wouldn't a replacement cartridge for the square taper bottom bracket have fixed the issue and provided good service for thousands of miles?

Ok... when ordering a new crankset/BB, how would one order, comparing BB shell width, and BB spindle width ?

yeah if the bottom bracket quit that fast and it is that rusty someone has been power washing their bike. no grease on the threads. stop power washing your bikes
