Dan I would recommend getting a tig welder if you are going to continue welding onto thin body plates, the control over the amperage while welding aswell as the small clean welds would be great for the projects. Great job though

Belt sander tip: personal thing i do. I never use full gloves for the reason dan said. Catch the glove and whole hand gets mangled, that said, when i need to get super close, i had an old pair of gloves that i cut just the finger tips off and put the tips in a tiny jar tapped to my belt grinder. That way if i need to get super close i just put on a finger tip piece. Anything happens, it'll grab just the tip and leave my hand alone.(nothing has ever happened but I've seen it happen. Buddy got 3 fingers broken and 2 ripped almost off. And not clean off, messy off.)
@brandoncoy18743 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan, for those loose bench vices you have try mounting them to some sort of base then you can clamp the base to the table and still move the vice around the shop
@TheAnnoyingBoss3 жыл бұрын
They told me back in a highschool welding class back in like 2015 to not use gloves whole using floor mounted grinding wheels and stuff just like that belt grinder specifically because it'll grab your glove and suck your hand it and grind it off. So Dan, when you said "I should probably be wearing gloves" you were making the correct choice by not wearing gloves. It's a little uncomfortable when you're doing heavy duty grinding to not use gloves so if you have to use gloves, don't hold the metal anywhere near where the grinding wheel or whatever your using is. Hold back a ways if for some reason not using gloves isn't working for you.

@frantisekhajek83 жыл бұрын
Word of caution if I may, dirt bike goggles might work but depends on the material they are made from. Cheap ones might be regular plastic. They actually make work goggles like Dan probably has which are made from polycarbonate which is impact proof and shouldn't shatter and make things worse.
@WestVirginiaCope3 жыл бұрын
@@frantisekhajek8 I hear you man, thank you for the information. I might have to invest in a pair of those. Lately I've been using my welders mask without the shade and leaving the poly lens in. It's not perfect but it works alright.
@frantisekhajek83 жыл бұрын
@@WestVirginiaCope Sure thing! Yeah, I get what you mean with the mask, my favorite for cutting, grinding, wire wheeling etc. is a polycarbonate face shield because you don't get pelted in the face with hot metal lol.
