@maria-ot7nd4 жыл бұрын
if you want to subtract fractions, they have to have the same denominator. So, 5 as a fraction is 5/1 and you have to multiply the numerator and denominator by 3. Then, you get 15/3. Lastly, you subtract 15 from 4 and give it a denominator of 3. That's how you get -11/3
@aaeve56764 жыл бұрын
@@maria-ot7nd I see, so multiply the fraction until the denominators match

how do you got -11/4 at of 4/3 , -5?
@fusionrage50965 жыл бұрын
multiplied -5 by the denominator -> -5 x 3 = -15 (Remember you still have to divide it by denominator you multiplied ) -15/3 then add 4/3 and one should get -11/3. (P.S. They got -11/3 not -11/4)
@avrilmei73385 жыл бұрын
Fusion Rage From what I know, If it is a whole number then the denominator will always be 1. So it should be solve like this, 4/3 and - 5/1 so the denominator should be 3. For 4/3, 3 divided by 3 is 1, 1 x 4 = 4. For - 5/1, 3 divided by 1 is 3, 3 x -5 = -15. Then, 4 + (-15) = -11. And it would be 11/3 coz the denominator is 3. We get the same answer but diff solution. Hmm, what is the correct solution for this?

(4/3) - 5 When adding or subtracting fractions we have to make the bottom of our fractions match. As a fraction 5 would be equal to (5/1). So to get that '1' to be a '3', multiply (5/1) x (3/3) (3/3 is just a 1, so we're not changing the value of 5. That gives us (4/3) - (5/1)x(3/3) = (4/3) - (15/3) = -11/3 :)
