Convolution device - New in Bitwig Studio 4.3

Bitwig Studio 4.3's new device, Convolution, can take any sound anywhere - even places that don't exist. All convolutions imprint your sound with an "impulse," and ours comes ready-made with 270 of them, ranging from 12th-century cathedrals and legendary studio effects to more abstract "environments." Using the impulse of a room or hall creates a realistic reverb, but Bitwig's Convolution (and its content) offers so much more. Here we cover just a few of those possibilities.

@@nachoci6876 Personally using Native Instruments *Replika* & 2C Audio's *Aether*. Replika sounds great on almost anything & work as both delay & reverb in diffusion mode, also its dirt cheap. Aether has to many bells and whistles for me, but sounds amazing for vocals etc, + very often heard in television 👍

Same. Wasn’t a fan of the metallic sound of the old reverb. Thankfully Valhalla verbs are some of the best money can buy & they are ridiculously cheap

I switched to Bitwig at 4.1 and every new update since then has been a thrill. I've been using computers for all kinds of things since mid-90s, and seriously, it's been a very long while since I was using a piece of software and really loved everything about it, everything about it made sense, and every new release made it better, rather than, you know, the opposite, as is often the case today :-) Please don't stop doing what you're doing!

BItwig makes a lot of your other tools reductant pretty much. I sold like half of my VSTs since I got bitwig. There's no competition when you can do everything stock and it's just great.

HA!!! I was just going to buy a 3rd party VST for Convolution reverb but Bitwig is just such a good investment that they can take care of most of my DAW needs - so beware VST manufactures and other DAW software - Bitwig is lurking around the corner, waiting to pounce on your every need, anticipating your wants and desires. Germany rocks!

Berlin Sire! 😄 Acually started using their basic reverb and works well as a finisher for bit of extra air. Other than that im using NI Replika and 2C Audio's Aether.. Shall be interesting to check this new one! 🙂 👍

The simplicity in this device is excellent! Still want to see some form of shimmer in the stock Reverb though... Reverb+ coming? :-)

You can make one by putting a Pitch shifter in the wet fx insert. Then pitching it up +12 semitones for that shimmering effect. Also use the mix knob on the Pitch shifter to dial the amount of shifting

You're right, the pitch shifter doesnt sound that right and I do want a Reverb+, but a shimmer reverb is essentilly a signal being split with the early dry reflections(buildup) being lifted by a pitch shift then mixed togheter with the rest(diffusion) so it can be recreated with those 2 knobs and a pitch shift tool. But I agree, this is one of the very few effects I don't use stock bitwig for.

For the 4 channel impluses, how do we setup our surround? I am only able to output to two channels at a time on the track and master. My interface has 6 outputs which supports 5.1.

Schau mal hier auf youtube nach einem der letzten Videos von "Venus Theory" - der hatte ein sehr interessantes Video darüber (nicht direkt in Bitwig - das Convolution Reverb stand da noch nicht zur Verfügung), aber generell um Impulses für Convolution Reverbs aufzunehmen. Das gilt auch 1:1 für das neue Bitwig Device.

You waste so much time on "little thing" and still don't have the basics. Please! put a decent recise on it without having to keep changing it to: USE LARGE TRACK HEIGHT this is so stupid and it's only on Bitwig. Put an option for groove that you just can't find in Bitwig. and please put an option to permanently disable this preview of the selected item what an annoying thing! give the user options to configure, after all the software is not free. Try to make this software exist because it's about time!.
