For all those who didn't understood the area part in last question.Total Energy= area under |x(t)|^2. So first will take the mod of x(t) so the graph below x axis will come upwards as shown in figure then we will take the square of x(t) for individual interval from -2 to -1 it will be 4 so in place of 2 it will be scaled at 4 and for -1 to 2 it will be 1 and now if we will take the area then for interval -2 to -1 area = 4 and for -1 to 2 area= 3. So on addition area = 3+4= 7

sir, energy of a signal is equal to the the area covered by it. the area covered = 2 x 1 + 3 x 1 =5 J.... but the answer is 7 J ..how is it possible? please tell me if i am wrong?

Bro actually it is 4 +3 because ( energy = (amplitude)^2 * (width)) For first rectangle = (2*2)*1 For second one = (1*1)*3

follow the formula......... y(t)=2, for t=-2 until t=-1 and y(t)=1, for t=-1 until t=2 most important, don't forget the square, 2^2 = 4 and 1^2 = 1

There's absolutely no way the absolute value of the area of the rectangle from t = -1 to t =2 is equal to 1. It's clearly an area of 3 and when you square that you get 9.
