Wow, you could probbly boounce that off clouds on a low cloud day, that is insane !

Yeah maybe :D haven't tried that yet actually. It will absorb into the cloud?

@@DarrenYeoYT it should show still, used to do it with laser pens back in the day at least 20years ago. I imagine the best throwers can do the same these days.

My L8 came today 😳. I ran it with the Wurkkos TS30S pro what a cool watch.the weather here tonight in New York was 30°. The beam was a lot tighter on the L8, but that’s to be expected due to the depth of the reflector ,regardless, it was a hell of a lot of fun. That battery it is a monster and I got the same insulation on the back cap. The box was about as plain as you can get. It came with my charger cable no instructions, but a very simple UI to understand and work. Thanks again for such a great showing.
@DarrenYeoYT Жыл бұрын
Awesome, that larger reflector is really needed with the SBT90.2. glad it all worked out for you!

Yes sir, mine came in sounds about the same as yours however I saw ui instructions printed on a label on the outside of my box. Happy lighting y'all.

@@DarrenYeoYT Thanks mate it’s a great light.For the price Convoy can’t be beat. I still get over my 3×21D . It blows away my K65 GT . I had a really hard time getting the GT out of Eco mode. disabled the light hit it 10 times turned it back on what a pain in the ass.

I found some 26980 batteries on Ali but you have to buy 3 around $20 total. The only problem is the review said they are scratched up maybe have been disassembled from something. Also they don't have a brand in English at least.
@DarrenYeoYT Жыл бұрын
Ah yeah, they probably removed them from a larger module. I ended up getting that spare QB26800 as there are some good reviews of them.

Is this worth the price? I am torn between the L8 and the Sofirn SP70. Different emitter, different batteries. But L8 is much better at throwing the light further. Can the L8 hold turbo for more than 3 mins?
@DarrenYeoYT2 жыл бұрын
Yes, definately - the emitter alone costs $50. I don't see anything special about the SP70, I have an Imalent MS03 with 3x XHP70.2 - they are floody LEDs and produce a lot of light but you end up wanting something that can throw more. The L8 will produce a similar amount of light but with 1.5km throw. I also don't like dual cell flashlights, extra danger for me if they are unbalanced.
@DarrenYeoYT2 жыл бұрын
None of these lights that produce over 2000 lumens can hold turbo over 3 mins. None that I know of anyway. You'd need a gigantic Flashlight body to dissipate the heat.
@JericVergara2 жыл бұрын
@@DarrenYeoYT well that's true. I just want to hold at least high for a couple of minutes tho. I don't mind turbo for 30 sec.
@DarrenYeoYT2 жыл бұрын
Oh right I see. Yes it holds the third step at roughly the same lumens (1000-1200) for 10 minutes. Step 4 is turbo @5000 lumens and drops to 4000 lumens after 30 seconds.

@@DarrenYeoYTI just got the TM 39 from Nitecore . Darren, I have to admit it really holds its turbo for an amazing amount of time. The throw on this light is fabulous to say the least. I have to say I like this light just as much as my K 75 2.0. I love the digital screen and what a beautiful design as far as I’m concerned. I don’t know if you ever tested this torch but what a beauty. I also received the Thor 3. Nice piece but Darren the AceBeam W35 has it beat.you have one of the best watches out there Darren.🔦

My ultimate thrower is Convoy 3x21D. (90.5mm bezel diameter) The L8's non-standard battery is a deal killer for me.

What is better than L21B SFT40?
@DarrenYeoYT10 ай бұрын
Depends what you mean by better - if you mean by throw, then the Osram W1/W2/W5050SQ3 will outperform. In terms of brightness, then the XHP70.3HI and SBT90.2 in the L21B.
@ojaiguru2 жыл бұрын
Impressive thrower! Like that it has passive cooling.
@DarrenYeoYT2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve - yeah, it does get warm/hot in a few minutes but it does a great job at dissipating the heat. Which torches do you have?

@@DarrenYeoYT Bought a SC31T for my son. Just ordered CSTEBOKE version and Wurkkos FC12 for myself. We have a desert trip coming up in November. They have a good deal on some of the older headlamps, too-- two for $32. Also considering the IF22A for the added throw. Thanks for your reviews - - they're helpful. The SC18 seems like a really good deal. The other one that seems like a good deal/light is the Convoy S21a with the SFT40. Is there a 21700 you recommend?
@DarrenYeoYT2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, you'll love that FC12, the SFT40 emitter is my favourite, along with SBT90.2 for throw lights. Try putting an 18650 Sofirn cell in it, as I find it's brighter according to ceiling bounce test. You can download the 'lux' app on your phone and test it out. The IF22a throws noticeably further than the FC-12 as it can concentrate the beam in to a narrow area. But there's not much spill. S21a should be similar to the FC-12 in performance but will run longer with a high capacity 21700. Just make sure you have at least a 10A draw 21700 to get maximum lumens. Would you consider larger reflector lights? www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002922281787.html
@DarrenYeoYT2 жыл бұрын
Here's the L21b as well: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002035918169.html Those are about both around $50-60 AUD... excellent value for 1+km throw. Of course there's a compromise to be made - more throw, larger body. Unless you're going for an LEP, but they have almost zero spill. I got one recently and will review it/compare to my other throwers. Hope that answered your question! I'm glad you found my videos helpful 🙂
