Though the explosion happened in Rockdale County, parts of metro Atlanta woke up to hazy conditions.

Why won't they name the chemicals as if they don't know. Water reactive doesn't tell us anything. Be transparent
@lola_daneСағат бұрын
One thing they grossly missed is the health updates and emergency procedures for the people who have been exposed. This gasses are extremely toxic and they are not being fully honest. There were ORANGE plumes which is nitrous gas. And that Fire chief was weirdly smug in her response to the question about hospitalizations. UNACCEPTABLE
@THEcucufate37 минут бұрын
Exactly. Give us the TRUTH and let us decide what to do with our lives! When they do this, it's because it's too late. They don't want people to panick and flood their call centers. There is NOTHING GOOD about HCL mixing with water and Chlorine gas exposure at any level, especially if you live in the same city as that. It still impacts all the counties around it.

Smug because its not hospital?... agent orange, nitrous gas, and phosgene are only a few of the potential reactants ammonia and bleach reaction (eruption)looks like this. not to mention anything they added to the soup when the walls began being demolished on top of it... another company is doing that... nearby residents may experience blindness, inflamed bronchial tubes, hypoxia, headaches, nausea, vomiting, hemorrhaging, dry mucus membranes, instant death, and/or a loss of taste/smell

What is the "Product". It is a complete derelict of duty to withhold that information from the citizens. Then on top of that, allowing an outside crew to destroy, and flatten the building, that has no accountability to the public, or need to keep evidence, even before the fire is out. I've been on the side of the narrative, but this is looking more like a cover up, every time I see an update.
@THEcucufate29 минут бұрын
Just do a Google search man! It's HCL and Chlorine. Look up asnwers of Biolab chemicals! Now add water to tanks of purely concentrated forms of those chemicals. Read what people use to handle those chemicals even in mild forms and diluted, and that should put this all into perspective. The "fire is out" does not mean anything. ONce the reaction mixes, it will continue until everything evaporate the water, and since there was a hurricane recently with massive amounts of water- you do the math.

PS that company needs to CLOSE and anyone injured or affected due to the health hazard should sue this company like YESTERDAY. This is a CYA press conference passed off as a "briefing". NOTHING good about 48 hours of constant bio-hazard gas exposure in the air. AT ALL.

What kind of chemicals are we dealing with? That’s a lot of smoke and will probably affect every where the wind blew clear up to Canada. What kind of health repercussions should we expect out of this mess now?
@OpticalLimitСағат бұрын
Sounds like they said the by-products are chlorine (presumably gas) and hydrochloric acid. The EPA guy mentioned the concentrations they've measured do not pose a risk to public health currently. I assume that means there would be no short-term health term problems for healthy individuals, but I don't know if there could be any long-term health impacts.

likely it was a reaction of TCCA (Trichloroisocyanuric acid) a chemical manufactured into a pool cleaning tablet that reacts with water to produce chlorine gas and hydrochloric acid that disinfects your pool. the plume is smoke with traces of chlorine gas and hydrochloric acid. breathing this in causes acute (short term without permanent effects) mucous membrane irritation (eyes, lungs, nose, mouth) so they advise people to stay inside and not to use AC because AC draws air in from outside at a faster rate. the effects of this smoke will not go beyond the southeast us region

The danger isn't just the individual chemicals that are burning, it's also the possibility of new toxic compounds being formed as they are mingled together while burning. Until they perform a controlled lab analysis utilizing all the chemicals stored there, along with the containers they are stored in and even the materials the building is made of, and all the possible combinations and burn temperatures involved, they can do no more than make educated guesses as to just how toxic that smoke actually is. There could be new compounds that don't even register on their analyzers. You can't even factor in long term effects from exposure until you know exactly what people were exposed to. The prudent and sensible move would have been a 100% evacuation of everyone down wind.
