I just started canning at the age of 69. So far I've canned beef stew and chicken stock. I will be making this recipe tonight. Thank you, I have learned a lot from you!😊

Last year I canned some beef soup. For dinner tonight I thickened the broth with some gravy mix (not so healthy, I know) and then topped the stew off with homemade dumplings and let it simmer until they were done. I served some home canned pears as a side dish. It's very satisfying knowing that I canned these things.

I’m 52 and I haven’t made homemade chicken pot pie since I was 30! It’s been too long. I used to play around with crusts and add sage to my savory pies.

Mom used to take the leftover crust bits, put them on a pan, sprinkle them with cinnamon & sugar, & bake them up as a little aside treat for us kids. Still remember trying to wolf them down when they were too hot. Nothing like homemade for creating memories.

That 1870's Homestead I’m making two loaves of sourdough sandwich bread today and then later on make some pie crust. I had to get butter out of the freezer because I only had one stick in the fridge. Cold butter and frozen butter butter are different lol! I have to look in my pantry to see what I can make. I know I could make a chicken pot pie for sure. My husband lately has quite the sweet tooth. I may take one of the pie crusts and just put butter, cinnamon and sugar on one.

Oh my goodness you are so inspiring!! I’ve been so busy binge watching your videos the past few weeks, I forgot to hit the subscribe button until just now 🙄 this only my second year gardening but I’m feeling like a total rookie in the kitchen. I actually have something from my garden this year to “put up” yay! Except now I’m having to take a crash course in canning/preserving. You offer all of those things on your channel and I’m so grateful! I even made my first pot of homemade chicken veggie soup using veggies and herbs I grew! Yay! I wanted to put up some of it like you did but My issue is I cannot find a pressure canner anywhere! So I’m limited to water bath canning. And I’ve learned enough to know that is very limiting. I’m sure I am not the only one with this issue given the present circumstances. I’m losing my harvests (or giving it away) while I’m trying to figure this out. Do you have any suggestions on other ways to be able to preserve things like this soup without pressure canning? I have frozen some things like beans, but only have a small freezer. I guess this is a good problem to have...sort of. 😁 I get so excited about growing our own food, but I pass by my basket of zucchini and beans and cukes and say “hold on just a minute, don’t go bad yet I’m still learning” 😂 i just learned how to make pickles and I even threw in a few rogue green beans 🤢 I’m southern but I have my pickling limits lol 😂 ***please pardon my squirrels nest of a question. Ohhh and I have a smaller pressure cooker that I thought I could use but apparently that isn’t the same as a canner. Geesh, I am a 48 yr old southern woman who suddenly feels embarrassed to even admit that I don’t already know all of this stuff. Lol, Help??😉😬

I'm going through a lot of your videos again today trying to figure out things I can make with all the food that I've canned. I'm wanting to empty my pint jars so that I can fill them up again with this years harvest. I'm doing good on quart jars, but already running out of pint jars. LOL!

We make a version of this but we make decorations in the crust like jack-o'-lanterns or leafs or hearts or Christmas trees or roses so the kids enjoy it lol. Also normally it's venison, rabbit or squirrel meat.
