For non Ghanaians: banku is made from fermented corn dough. The milled corn flour is mixed with water and covered to ferment for three to five days. Some people add fresh cassava dough to the fermented corn dough to make banku. Fermented corn dough is also used to make porridge and kenkey (steamed corn dough balls). It can also be added to mashed ripe plantains to make kaklo (fried plantain doughnuts) or tatale (fried plantain fritter). Fermented foods have probiotics that are good for digestion.

Your hygiene is excellent. Yes lady l loved it @11:26 where you said "my Mum thought me that" sure you will get it perfect. The small tiny ingredient you added to make draw is call "kanwa or kilbu or potassium" it fasten cooking and makes it draw, it also lessens sour taste. You are doing great indeed. Try excluding garden eggs and tomatoes, taste will be wonderful. Tomatoes makes it sour. Equally using dry powder of corn or Guinea-corn will make the food well cooked. However you did a great job. The young unmarried ladies should seriously watch these to be wonderful cooks. Good job indeed. That soup can be eaten with Maize flour, white Rice , Pounded Yam, Gari (cassava powder) etc.

Another quicker way of cutting lady fingers/okra is by cutting them in bulk like you how you chop vegetables either holding them together or flat on the chopping board. It's bi carbonate soda you added to the okra stew for the slimmy texture and look.

Taty our favorite youtuber! From the streets of Sunyani to your kitchen. We applaud you. Again great content and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Your Mom is great for teaching you how to cook so well. Banku and okro stew is not easy to make, and you made it look easy. Congrats!!! So dawadawa is locust beans in English I think, but I have no idea why the locust is added to it. Sometimes just say it in Italian. We like the fact that you speak multiple languages. Your humor along with your cooking skills simply brought massive quality to this video content. I see cameraman had some skill in the kitchen too. And lastly, it was a blast to see Amidu Salifu on camera. He was enjoying the cooking immensely, like it should be. Maybe one day, he can showcase some of his football skills in a clip if he will let you😃. Some of us are football fans too.

I think the reason why your mom dissolves the salt in water is so that the salt isn’t in one place of the banku. I also think she doesn’t add the salt before she cooks it because the salt makes the water evaporate faster which will cause the banku to burn. That’s why she adds the salt water when it’s almost ready

I think your mother did the salt and water to help the salt dissolve so parts of the banku wouldn’t be over seasoned. I’m not familiar with banku but it looks hard to stir so the salt wouldn’t be evenly distributed.

@brofutv18532 жыл бұрын
Lol. Where did you get the impression she didn't like the sliminess? It's actually desirable. We swallow the banku and the sliminess of the okra helps a great deal. We love it. Did you miss when she said she added potash to induce the slime?

Tatiana.. I have noticed in alot of ur videos that when someone is cooking and they are using Tomatoes 🍅 Onion 🌰 Garlic and Okra that they choose to Blend it into a Paste? Do you find that when you blend those ingredients that it Tastes better versus just cutting the ingredients and putting it into the pot like that? Just wondering 🤔
@TatianaHaina2 жыл бұрын
well I think when you cut it, it cooks faster doesn't[ get too pasty apart from that they both taste the same
