Rao’s (pronounced Ray-Ohs) marinara sauce is the best!, I always chuckle when I hear non-NY’ers pronounce it Rowwzz. It’s named after a restaurant in NYC where the sauce originated from. Our grocery stores sell several types of their jarred sauce, and have recently expanded into soups and pastas as well. During the holidays I can sometimes find a big 48oz jar; Rao’s is hire priced, but I think it’s worth it. Again, it’s my go-to jarred sauce….love it!

Lauren, I forgot to ask, can you show us how to make the Sour dough starter that you put in your fridge to have on hand. I have been seeing lots of recipes. But every assumes we know how to make starter. This would help.
@ThisAlaskaLife2 жыл бұрын
If you know someone with start they can give you a small amount and then you can start feeding it and it will grow. If not you can make it, it takes a week or so to get to the right fermentation. Here is a great lady to learn it from www.farmhouseonboone.com/make-sourdough-starter-scratch

Amazing meals. You and Mark are both so talented - you do so much and have so many skills. I'm a fairly new subscriber and have been watching past videos bit by bit. I can't believe how hard you work. Mark has incredible skills in nature and is even a pilot. What is his "regular" job? I know you were/are a teacher. It was like a Mexican Fiesta this week. Olay!!! Everything looked so good. And those California Golden Avocados look so perfect. In Illinois they are hard and you have to wait for them to ripen. I could eat Avocado with Everything, lots of Vitamin K, be careful of you are on a blood thinner. I love them on smoothies. It's funny because Gary requested Mexican Lasagna again this week too. I always had in shredded chicken with my beef, ground beef, beef of any kind has gone through the roof. $5 rotisserie chicken once a week at local store helps. I love all this cooking Lauren. And your new chopper helps out. And Mark that Roast, man, you got that smoker licked, maybe you need to enter a BBQ contest with game meat. I would love to check one of those out in Alaska. I love talking with Men who smoke meat. Some of the best Self made chefs. I bet Mark and Bennett would make a great team. I know you are busy.
@brilliantbutblue2 жыл бұрын
Avocados are only an issue if you are taking Warfarin (Coumadin) as it decreases the effectiveness, it doesn't interact with the more popular commonly prescribed ones now like Plavix (Clopidogrel) or Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) 👍
@marcellahicks39842 жыл бұрын
@@brilliantbutblue you are so right, when you have a heart valve replaced, people cannot use the popular blood thinners. When you are on Warfarin, you support others. I hope you didn't think I was being offensive.

@michellecook75862 жыл бұрын
I soooooo want that chopper! Your old chopper~ not the new one...I have the new one and EVERYTIME I use it I cut my finger...I hate the dern thing...Where did you find the old chopper, if you don't mind me asking? I use the True lime packets too! I love em in my water jug I sip on throughout the day ...(I use 3 packets for my 64 oz jug)...I tried the lemon but it was just not quit it...but the lime is amazing in my water...I also bought the True Lemonade thats Amazing too! they have become my go to drinks here of lately. I use to buy the chickens at Sam's all the time but I guess they changed the way they are cooked or the guy in the part of the kitchen or something but I know if I buy a Sam's club chicken it's going to cost $7.99 for it and I have to bring it home and finish cooking it, because they are ALWAYS still bleeding when you cut into them....After a bit I just stopped buying them...it defeats the purpose of buying them if you ask me. I will admit the only way I like Salmon is in a California sushi roll with avacado. I've tried it cooked and I'm just not a huge fan. I prefer it raw but the Salmon California sushi roll is the only way I will eat "fish bait" as my son calls it...lol...But the way you cooked your salmon it sure did look yummy tho. Being from Missouri I haven't ever eaten any other deer than Whitetail...LOVE it for my spaghetti and my lasgna's or chili...thats basically the only way I have ever had it...I have had Moose (I like that too!) Thank You for sharing all your wonderful meals with us, much appreciated God Bless
