How much salt should I use to help cure epistylis? I have an Angelfish that has developed it around its eyes in the last two days, and unfortunately, I have found that Angelfish do not last very long with this condition.

Hey I was wondering if you would be able to help me. I have a sarasa comet goldfish who i have had for over 2 years in a 520L aquarium. The parameters are normal, however I noticed 4 days ago she had a rip in her tail. Around the rip are some white spots. She seems otherwise healthy and is acting normal. I have been keeping the tank clean with 20% water changes every other day and treating with melafix however the rip seems the same after 4 days. Fortunately it hasnt gotten any worse, but the white spots around the tear are concerning me. Do you know if it is some early stage of epistylis or some other illness? I am really worried about her even though she is behaving and eating normally and bossing our other fish around as normal.

Can you give the amount of aquarium salt per # of gallons specifically for treating epistylis in the tank as well as the amount of epsom for the epsom baths 3x per day? Thanks! I lost 5 new Amazon Puffers recently to epistylis within 72 hours of receiving them. It was heartbreaking!

Hi my 3 angel fish have white spots just on their front fins (arms) I have treated with pimpafix fir 2 weeks with a 50% water change after 1 week., and have added aquarium salt to the tank (215 litres) It hasn't worked my temp is 30 as I have a discus fish. I heard you say lower the tank to 23 degrees would my discus survive that ?

Should i take the fish out that has this and quarantine him to treat him? Do i also then need to treat the whole tank?

Yes, treat the infected separately, and treat the tank to prevent any breakout.

hey mate is tri supfa safe for all fish? I have american cichlids, clown clown loaches, pleco and ghost knife? my chocolate cichlid has been getting some strange growth on him over the past few months, they come and go with out any reason, looks like it could be epistylis, no other fish have it. I was thinking to give him a salt bath then treat the tank with tri sulfa, i just wanted to confirm it wouls be safe for all my fish and wont harm my beneficial bacteria, cheers......ps im in also in australia

Yes it’s safe for them but it will possibly affect your bb. I always dose nutrafin cycle along side of tri Sulfa.

One of my black Moore’s have red in the gills. Where do I find the medicine? I’ve noticed it months ago as he grew bigger. My other fish is fine without the red gills. I got them together from the same tank. I’ve had them over a year. I have the salt. And what do you do if one of the medications your actual allergic too? Please help

It’s as instructed for your tank size by the packaging.

I don’t recommend using “kanaplex pellets”, so not familiar with food dosage I’m afraid.

It killed my cat fish … woke up 2 days ago to this in tank …. The salt that is … they didn’t like it at all my cory seems to be ok … I used epsom salt maybe that was the killer idk … but this tank was just set up and then this sh-t comes along… waiting this second for antibiotics to arrive :(
