Airbrush Color Brands? What's the difference??

I find that the Ethanol based ones are so hard to find here in the USA. And the oil based I don't hear about at all. It sucks because the main advantage of Ethanol is that you can layer colors. With water they bleed into one another.

Hi there, Newbie again. Thanks for all the advise so far given. Have Cookie Countess Airbrush system. Also purchased Cookie Countess paints and AmeriMist airbrush paints, both water based. I've been practicing with Cookie Countess Pinch of Pink. Following all your advise, 6-8" above cookie, light LIGHT touch, compressor on HIGH. Still splotchy outcome. You can see the water on the cookies. Also, 2 drops of color only does 1, 2 1/2" round cookie. Then I tried the AmeriMist Leaf Green. What a difference between the two!! 2 drops of that covered 6+ of the cookies. Did not come out splotchy and did not 'pool' on the cookie. Wondering why such a huge difference between the two brands?

Hi Barbie! Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you are doing everything right. I would encourage you to try some of the other Cookie Countess colors. Pinch of Pink is a SUPER light color, and has a much higher ratio of color to water. So it is meant to be very pale, and will not get darker the more you spray. As you have learned. It will just get watery. But i understand the temptation to keep spraying to try for a darker color. For a bright pink you would want to try one of our other pinks. Hope that helps!

I have issues with colour transferring off the cookie once done. What do you do to combat this?

With the water base I use water to clean the airbrush machine...can I still use water to clean if it is alcohol or ethanol based?
