OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY: DOUG and STACY are cooking 2 chickens at the same time in the All American Sun Oven and are in the field putting up 300 bales of hay so they can feed their livestock in the winter.
The homestead is a lot of work and has a lot of failures and wins and this was a win =) low humidity and the rain had stopped making for perfect conditions to put up hay.

This is a "vintage" video that we have watched and enjoyed. During dinner, we watched it again because this is our choice out of all the different companies. The selling points for us is the fact that it weighs more to say it has a strong construction. Another point that we really like is the glass lid. And, the company is a wonderful organization that gives by making ovens for impoverished peoples. Thank you.

I am stealing your idea of stacking two pots together. I bought two bean pots, and this would work just great! I can cook food in one, and heat water for dishwashing after (just put water in a warmed thermos until ready for use). Thank you so much for the idea.

Might I suggest when stacking hay to build up the front to as high as its going so as to make the loaders job easier, rather than flooring the entire bed tier by tier and making the loaders having to throw hay up on top each tier as its placed in the bed.
@tommathews3964
@tommathews3964 7 жыл бұрын
Agree.....stair step the stacking as you go front to back. You are always working off the deck of the trailer (rolling or "walking" bales up, one course at a time, as you go) and the loaders are only loading deck high. Saved myself a ton of work when I realized this! Just my 2 cents worth! Chicken looks great! Gonna have to invest in a Sun Oven! Thanks for great videos Doug and Stacy!

We just purchased a Sun Oven and will be arriving in the next week - the stacker pots are not available but hopeful for later this month. I really enjoy watching Doug and Stacy - by far, the BEST solar cookers I have found. We will definitely be trying out this lemon bomb chicken ! We will stay away from loading the 300 bales of hay ❤

I'm LOVIN THE SUNOVEN!!! Could you imagine tailgating at a concert or sporting event, and while the "parking lot police" are out demanding those to turn off they're gas grilles, you pop out the SUNOVEN!!!! It would be sweet having one!

Anyone who doesn't own an All American Sun Oven, needs to get one! I bought mine 2 years ago when we lived in Illinois. I cooked a chicken dinner when it was - 10 degrees outside. As long as have a mostly sunny day, you can prepare a great meal. Now we live in Arizona and use it so we don't heat up the house. The food is so delicious when cooked in the sun oven. It's great to take in the RV , or on a car camping trip. For our family it is the ultimate slow cooker! Meat comes out so tender and moist. It is a great size, and you can prepare enough food food for a family of 4 to 6 people unlike other brands I researched. This is a great for an emergency situation too. I highly recommend it! Thank you Doug and Stacy for sharing your video on such a wonderful product.

Doug, Stacy you are amazing! This kind of work is the best exercise and anti-depressant there is I imagine. It looks hard and it must be but still alot of us would help out just to be out in the open under God's sky with the kids! They could benefit from it alot! I worked hard in the fields growing up and have never feared hard work. A strong mind and body is beneficial in every way! That food looks delicious is it as tasty as fire roasted? It sure seems the way to go. Thanks folks and may all go well with you!

Bucking hay was a summer thing for me when i was growing up i got 3 cents a bail plus lunch and free water and tea. We used 2 tractors and trailers. 2 drove the tractors,2 on each trailer for stacking and 2 on each side for throwing on trailers. The only rest we got was riding back to barn from and to the fields. We had convayers that took the hay up to the top of the barns. worked all day maybe made $ 20.00 dollars a day back in the early 1970's

It was a 2 day event...lots of hard work and lots of fun and good memories!
