True but there was a time before before birth control and those kids lived okay. My great grandmother had 22 kids.
@jamesofarcadia2 жыл бұрын
@@monicdavis6150 That was a very different time, maternal and infant mortality rates were higher, 22 kids has always been rare - and in most societies, when there was a large amount of children, some would be sent to live with relatives (because people could not afford to feed that many). There was also significantly less responsibility in terms of expectations around parenting, you didn't need to provide emotionally, or even materialistically as you do now. Children also left school and began working at 14-16.
@jamesofarcadia2 жыл бұрын
@@monicdavis6150 and lets not forget that they can 'raise' 22 kids purely because the British public provides assistance in terms of free health care, education, and other tax assistance for a family that large. While they have a great bond, I honestly think the parents are selfish for having one kid after another, who looks after the young Ones when she pregnant or looking after the newborn? The older siblings do. How much time did the children really bond with the parents before the next one arrived. You have so much children and the fact is, not all the children get the spend time with the parent. In the end, the older siblings picked up the slack when they should have just been kids.

@@angelabeckett3350 Erm, they had a documentary showing in the UK. You could see the older children getting the younger siblings ready. Some of them even spoke about it. Think it was on Channel 4 or 5. And lets be honest, having so many kids, especially toddlers, babies, it be impossible for parents to give equal time to children especially since she is pregnant with the next one when the young one is not even a year old. I don't begrudge them for having so many children but feel for the children who might not have gotten that parental bond. 22 children, it is inevitable that you are not giving them truly everything.

I'm sorry but having this many kids feels really irresponsible and no matter how loving and attentive they try to be, it's inevitable that they're going to neglect the wants and needs of some of the kids. I can also see from the video that one consequence is that the older kids have to mind the younger ones, which is not fair to them. I'm saying this as the oldest sibling who had to take care of my much younger sibling. It definitely fostered some resentment over having to be responsible for things I shouldn't have had to be responsible for.
