Slaw dogs, or what we call Carolina dogs, are some of my absolute favorites. You get the bite from the chili and onion, the mustard adds a nice zesty flavor and the slaw is creamy, a bit sweet and crunchy which gives great texture and it balances everything out on the flavors to pair nicely with the hot dog. If you haven’t tried one I’d definitely recommend it.

Wrap the dog so that both ends of the bacon are on the same side. Then, sear that side first. If you do that, the bacon is less likely to unravel. Then, you'll have more opportunity to get direct contact on the griddle for the other sides to render off some of that bacon fat and make a really tasty, crispy bacon-wrapped hotdog.

I don't care for either sour cream or mayo, so when I discovered the greatness of the cream cheese in the Seattle "aww-dog-a", I started using cream cheese as a sauce base for a bunch of other savory applications. Just today, I mixed up cream cheese, mango chutney, and El Yucateco ghost pepper sauce and threw it on some soft tacos - it was damn delicious! The funny thing is the chutney actually tastes a bit like the hot sauce from Taco Time (chain local to Seattle and the northwest). Next thing up are chicken teriyaki burgers with grilled onions and cream cheese sriracha. If I'm gonna do hot dogs, I do cream cheese, blitzed up chipotles in adobo, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeno, and a little cotija for good salt... I mean measure.

All of these dogs (well maybe except that mess from Georgia or the Skyline one) can be S tier. It's the bread that makes the difference. There's a hotdog restaurant near me that only does hotdogs and they do all kinds from everywhere. But the one thing that makes all of their dogs outstanding is the buns. Most hotdog buns pretty much just suck. So its no surprise that the three S tier on this list had special "buns". Honestly I think that goes for any sandwich or anything related to a sandwich. Lousy bread kills it.
