I’m absolutely positive this idea began in a college dorm where hot pots weren’t allowed. Back in the Jurassic Era, when I went to school, we turned irons upside down, held in place by stacks of text books, covered them in foil, and cook all kinds of things!

If you leave bacon in the microwave long enough it will actually crisp in its own grease. Be sure to lightly cover the dish though: it’ll spit and splatter.

Considering how much energy an iron takes and how long this took, that may be the least energy efficient way to cook bacon you could find. I think I'll stick to cooking it in the oven. I would not have the patience for this at all.
