My fetching is not much fun like soai and it's twice soai ketchen,so gald I have seen you cook the saltfish,I use to just soak it in water and fry it up and it use to be so salty still,one day I saw you boil the saltfish with the food and I was blown away by how much I forgot to cook Jamaican food

We usually open the can then use the lid to strain off the brine in the sink (keeeping the ackee in the tin) then when you seasonings and saltfish is cooked add ackee in.

Sorry to tell you that you cooked the can ackee incorrectly! First off the brine needs to be drained off and rinsed twice! The secret to get the ackee firm is to put it in the fridge for an hour or overnight. Anyway it looks good 👍🏻😊

Ginger and pimento in ackee and salt fish I’ll try that next time. Linstead brand is pretty good that’s my preference. Next time drain the ackee pour in a bowl then rinse with hot water then continue as usual. Canned ackee got really expensive

The ackee is already cook. So skip the cooking part and start with your vegetable and saltfish then add the ackee.

Just a suggestion, next time drain off that water from the can, then rinse off with boiling water. Use a strainer to drain, it can be use immediately or let it sit for a while in the refrigerator or on your counter

I cook the canned Ackee alot first strain the brine in a strainer and pour some hot water over it drain.then cook as usual.🇺🇸😎

You should have drained the ackee and scalded it in some warm water (atleast a minute or less). The ackee will develop smooth look that way and eat much better as well. I give you a 6.5/7 for the ackee! Fry dumplings look sell offf n good presentation nonetheless 💯

Yup I know this one but I always want it to boil faster so I try to only crack the lid and hope I remember lol. I also heard rubbing oil around the edge of the pot helps too

Here's a tip for you to stop your pot over boiling. Place a wooden spoon across the top, when the water hits it, it doesn't spill over. Try it👍🏽

P.S funny the other day I watched a video of a Ghanaian that went to Jamaica and had Ackee and Saltfish for the first time and he loved it and said they only use Ackee too make soap there. I eat any brand ackee, I just look for the cheapest one at the moment when I’m shopping. Cheapest I ever seen was $8.99 and I paid up to $13.99. It just depends and where you go.

Spur Tree is the worst Ackee to buy. It is like Ackee soup. Buy any other brand than Spur Tree.....Spure Tree Ackee too saggy and overcooked. I told Spur Tree about it...but they continue to make their Ackee very saggy.
