Their video called "No Time to Breakfast" is a great watch in my opinion. It's one of the silly DnD story videos and it's very well edited.

Love how Mr. IH always starts with a specific theme for the video and then goes off topic by the end!

IH's sigh at 28:15 always gets me there. He's just so disappointed, like any dungeon master would be by the lack of creativity on show. 😅

Since you asked, here's how DnD works. You've got the DM, or Dungeon Master, and that's the person that creates the setting. There's pre-made places to adventure in, but the DM is like the manager. Then you've got the player characters, they make whatever characters they want, wizards and fighters and clerics and so on, and they go on some form of adventure. It can be a short campaign, like a party going on a particular mission to maybe clear out a mine infested with monsters. It can be a longer campaign where you like, need to solve some larger problem in a big city or area. Then there's the REALLY long campaigns that can last for hundreds of hours. Usually with those it's much more free form, the players just do whatever takes their interest, and the DM places story beats and interesting things along their path that builds up to something. Mechanically how it works, is that it's a game about rolling dice. You have characters, and they have stats. Those stats effect how much you get to add to your dice rolls. So if your character has a plus 6 to stealth, you'll be better at sneaking around, since whatever you roll on your 20 sided dice, you get to add 6 to that. Each action that requires some amount of skill, for example, sneaking past some guards, requires a skill check. That check has a Difficulty Class, or DC. That is a number that your character needs to roll in order to succeed. So if the guards are quite difficult to sneak past, you could have a DC of 18, for instance. You roll a 20 sided die, so 18 is fairly high. If you have a plus 6 to stealth, that means you'll need to roll at least 12 in order to pass the check, because you add the 6 to your roll of 12, that makes 18 and so you pass. In addition, you could cause some distraction or cast a spell or something to make the guards not pay so much attention to your sneaky guy, and the DC could go down as a result. The DM just decides what to set the scores at based on how hard the task you want to do is. Persuasion for example is a skill, and persuading someone that you have a better hand in cards is easy to quite hard, but talking a king into abdicating his crown to you is just impossible, so the DM can also set a DC to just be infinite. The difference between a good DM and a bad one is basically how well they give the players enough freedom to adventure and have fun, vs balancing the game so they don't just run over and ruin everything you planned, which is where the DM has fun, since the DM isn't a character playing in the game. At least, the DM SHOULDN'T be a player in the party, not permanently anyway.

Yes it is. The guy that lived next door to me for years was a triple meth threat. He made it, sold it, and used it all while ripping the copper out of his houses walls when that didn't make him enough money.

If I spend 40 minutes a day to watch a Namu video, then how many days does Namu need to be in 40 minutes? Tough question, still working on it.
