Hi Constantin, hope you'r well! Carp is good but need to be fresh like many river's fishes. And also you need to add spices, to bring up you carp fish to a highter level. Good feeding is important to stay healthy! River fish is very good food! Not too fat and they eat it with raw vegetable : the best! A long time ago i was fishing carps and eels in britany France. We simply grayed eels on fire with salts. Just after the war, (i was too young of course) and that the swamps where i fished were flooded by German's war, old people told that they could catch buckets of eels. I believe themp because sometimes, when the time is stormy you'r not so far of it. And a few times i made higther french cooking that each time nothing remained. By now it is very controlled. Du to decline ressources and pollution. I think Uzbekistan is one of the remaining places where you can find natural things, Russia too probably in many places. There's a youtube channel where you can see an uzbeck guy cooking all sort or things.

One thing for sure, I’m learning of far away exotic lands, with so much history. Interesting viewing how different cultures prepare food. The veggies look quite good. In the USA carp is generally not eaten. The servings are quite large there. A river was mentioned so I'm thinking carp is the only fish available. The facility did not look very sanitary but they are evidently accustomed to such conditions so natural immunity prevails. Thanks for the interesting view and showing new things.

I see they deep fry the fish strips without batter. What was the fish? I didn't catch what the oil was (vegetable, or sunflower?) They have garlic, and salt. For vegetable tomatoes (they are different from the ones here) and leeks, and cucumbers, and lettuce? They have tea (from a tea bag) and a kind of bread. Also, there is some kind of pickles? (The red ones in the jar, for the bread.) I was wondering how they people would sit, at the low table; but they kneel: very good! ... or even lounge. That's green tea... or oolong tea?

Amazingly clean, considering it is open to outdoors and dust. No flies either. The carp from the Murray River here are best described as "cotton wool stuffed with pins". The only taste is of mud, and not even much of that, with bones everywhere. The last time I had the traditional south East asian triplet of water, coke and tea offered to me was at Supreme HQ, Royal Thai Navy. The cooking style is east Asian, yet the serving style is straight from the Middle East. Am I right in assuming the dipping sauce was hot, or was it sweet as well,as spicy? Wish I had been with you. Some good news - as you can surmise, I'm something of a naval expert. I just saw pictures of the Moskva. Sea state was low, and while the aft hull was burnt out below decks, it looked as if nearly all the crew would have been able to evacuate safely. Only those caught in the initial fire and explosion would have been lost, so dozens rather than the hundreds I'd feared. I've been aboard a ship that had a sudden fire in the wave guide of a radar very similar to one of those on the Moskva. Only swift action stopped it from being serious. 1970s very high power radar technology of any nation is prone to that. I have revised my opinion of the competence of the crew upwards a lot. They got everyone off and fought the fire as best as anyone could, it was concentrated amidships with lots of very flammable electronics and 30mm magazines nearby. It spread aft past the s300 missile magazines, but swift action stopped them from catastrophically erupting, as I'd expected they would. One bulkhead got so hot there is an obvious paint scorch line on the hull just past the missile silos, but those must have been flooded early. Do not be too hard on the Russian Navy, they did well in a difficult situation. I am going to splice the main brace., and have a celebratory tot of single malt whisky. I can't say my opinion about the loss of the ship . The men did well though, and lived, and that is worth celebrating. Urra.

Carp isn't bad for eating (I know, that somewhere - Australia, USA,... it is "trash fish" - There they wouldn't take it in the mouth for gold), but I couldn't do it - I hate the little bones in the meat. I was most intrigued by the way the woman doused it with cucumber salad vinegar (or whatever it was) instead of lemon juice. But as a resident of the former Eastern Bloc, where pigs, rabbits, ducks and other vermin were killed at home, this doesn't shock me.

I’m glad you had a much better experience. The dishes and table setting were so colorful and beautiful. It seemed like a wonderful day. Is it me or was $45 a little high for the area?
