We're Jewish, too. My Oma, (grandma), used to make challah every Friday morning. She would make a huge braided ring, we would eat on that through the week. We mixed, kneaded by hand. A lot of work! Best bread ever! Then, she would make several smaller braided loaves and we would take them to elderly shut ins. How many times have I heard them say it was the only bread they had all week. Thanks for posting.

I converted as an adult, so I spend quite a bit of time learning the recipes. Everyone in my family loves this bread. Makes the best French toast, too.

Where can I get the written recipe for your challah

The ingredients are listed in the first few seconds of the video. I don't do written recipes other than that.

i am using the recipe for four cups but the dough doesnt reach 16 inches for each of the six balls. Does anyone know why?
@DebbiesBackPorch6 жыл бұрын
It can take a while to roll it out. Let it rest. Just cover the whole thing with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 10 minutes. Then it won't snap back so much.

What type of flour did you use??
@DebbiesBackPorch7 жыл бұрын
This recipe calls for All Purpose, but you can use bread flour if that is what you have. I have made it with bread flour.
@lindaehrlich86954 жыл бұрын
When you form balls how long do you let it rest 15 or 50 mins. I’m couldn’t make that out.? Do you cover it while it’s resting? I only made challah once (not too good) and this recipe sounds good for me. I can’t wait to start it. Thank you, Limda
