Hi! In this video I show and tell a bit about what you can forage in the Swedish countryside, and what dangers might lurk in this land of many trees. I also do some 17th century soldier style outdoor cooking on a Swedish torch on a lovely, calm Autumn day.

I lived in Sweden many years ago and this brings back memories. Swedes are much more in touch with nature than Americans. Your presentation was very informative and well done. I found the people of Sweden to be very smart, decent, honest and kind. If I wasn't so restless and depressed by the dark winters I would have stayed. Tack ska du har!

Beautiful video. Nature, eating healthy food and clean air, you can't go wrong. I remember reading a book about trees and that trees live in their own community etc. and that "trees never fight amongst themselves". Thank you for sharing...........

I live in Canada 🇨🇦 and it’s quite similar here near my home of the Rocky Mountains. What you call elk, are called moose here. Elk here are somewhat different. Though they are very large as well and tend to travel in herds. The berries and mushrooms are very familiar to me as well. Lovely video. I hope to see much more! Please take care and enjoy!

Hmmmm I thought elk were Wapiti. In some countries , not moose
@nordicwoman
@nordicwoman Жыл бұрын
I believe Wapiti are called elk in America as the british mistook them for elk when coming there. The moose are what we in Sweden call Älg, which are the Eurasian/European elk, with big, sometimes flat antlers, and the American moose with bigger antlers. Latin alces alces. :)

I LOVE Scotland. Did a roadtrip there a few years ago. Would love to stay in a little cottage by the coast on some scottish island and also climb the mountains ... I think Scots and Swedes go really well together. Hands down the most wonderful dialect there too! (Not to mention the kilts). And to have the unicorn as a national animal? That's the coolest thing. Myths and beautiful ideals for the people. 🦄

Thank you for sharing your love of the natural world and capturing in image and word the beauty of your land... It is painful to see the suffering of Nature, with her extreme weather patterns and we with too many humans on a small planet. I hope one day we will come to clear sight to assist nature, to reclaim her wilderness of wildness that we all may live in true balance... Hello Viktoria, I trust you and your family are well. I have just watched one of your videos, absolutely brilliant, well done. We have the same wild roses in England as you do in Sweden. The wild boar are becoming a problem here too. Not only for the country side but also for agriculture, the damage they do. We can harvest them (shoot) but it is not easy and they MUST go into the food chain. Bark beetles are also a nuisance here, but that is nature. Trees communicating under ground????? At least in England we do not have Lynx, Bears, Wolves. But lots of foxes, we shoot them too. But do not eat them, yuck. Now you take care and stay safe. Tim W England😘

Hi! Thank you for your comment and for watching :). Mainly 2 classes of fungal networks help trees with communication and resource distribution. Some species of trees live in symbiosis with one of them and the other species of trees with the other, so they can only help the species of trees that use the same type of fungi network as they do this way. There are videos on youtube about this if interested. Take care and stay safe, you too! ☀
