A hickory smoked sirloin steak on the grill is the best! It takes time and patience to prepare a fire-cooked meal, but the end result is definitely worth the time and effort. You don't get that flavor from an oven or microwave.

GP, great job as usual. I agree, cooking in the traditional way is fantastic. Yep, it does require far more effort and attention to the task but the taste is well worth the trouble. Plus, as you stated, it is fun! Thank you LCLY for sharing a little family tradition and fellowship with the followers. I believe a cup of that delicious coffee from your website store would go mighty nice with your kabobs? This is Rex from Charlotte signing off…

Anybody who is of the mind that thinks you shouldn’t use fluid to start a fire because it’s not “purist”enough should be the first one to give up every convenience afforded to them because they’re obviously living in a fantasy. I’m with you Grandpa…gasoline, diesel or whatever. It all burns off long before any cooking goes on anyway. I’m sure I don’t have to say it because you’re probably way ahead of me but, keep your 12 ga close to ward off any lurking eggheads. You’ve got a great team there and everyone plays an important role. Thank you for inviting us to be a small part of it.

Good morning, oh yes, the only way to cook. Everything looks delicious. Yum... I have lots of pecan trees so no shortage of wood to cook with. I use paper and the small dry limbs that fall off the pecan trees to start the fire. Then a few green pieces to smoke the meat and whatever else we cook. Pop some popcorn and the smoke gives it a wonderful flavor. I don't like to use gasoline, its too sneaky, the flammable vapor goes everywhere. Thanks for the great video to start the day with. 🙂
@JayWye52
@JayWye52 2 ай бұрын
gasoline is dangerous,the vapors are just too easy to ignite. Plus you never know what additives they put in the gasoline. Benzine is a carcinogen. if you're camping,hand sanitizer and cotton balls,or vaseline and cotton balls,are good firestarters. Pine cones,too,and they're free.

Looks delicious ! GrandPa, a tip with your smoking hickory stick... try making a bundle of chips or small pieces wrapped up in an aluminum foil pouch with some tiny toothpick size holes in top.. it will allow only a small amount of air to get inside creating a steady source of smoke without the more bitter tasting flames.
