Thank you for such warm comment. These hens have become my pets. Whenever I go by their coop, they follow me around and they respond as if they are communicating with me. They peck on my shoes and my clothes. When I sit, they jump up and sit on my hand, shoulder, or in my lap. Now each of them is giving me an egg each day. They are so adorable.

You have chickens!!! I want chickens and hope to have some by next year. I have heard that beans will also help the chickens to lay eggs in the winter, when they don't lay as often due to the cold. I'm not sure how true that is, but I love learning anything and everything about chickens.

I swear by this way of feeding, laying hens. I've been doing so for over 2 yrs. I also add leaf of life to their diet and grow them lots of sunflower seeds as well. My hens are healthy and lay all year. When I make my Pinto beans I add red pepper flakes to it after its cool and corn meal. I combine all of that and feed them. I sometimes add greens in there. I don't just stick to Pinto beans. I give them cow peas, etc.
