I was born in Maine and lived there until about 35. I moved to Louisiana about 7 years ago. I live between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, which isn't too far from this place. I felt at home from the first day moving here. The people and the culture are actually more alike than most people would think. The Cajun people left Canada for more religious freedom. They split into 2 groups. One group came here to southern Louisiana, while one settled in southern Maine. The area that they moved to in Maine was where I grew up. I remember many of the older generation would talk in French quite often. The people of both states might be alike, but the food here is on a totally different level. I don't think I could go back to eating the bland food from the northeast

I have eaten lots of crabs, in Maryland, Virginia and Louisiana. Never ate a crab I didn't like, except a soft shell crab with a too hard shell. That was a mistake. I don't eat crab often anymore--too pricey at $10 per 8 oz. of claw crab meat, $13.99 per 8 oz. of special crab meat and $25.99 per 8 oz. of jumbo lump crab meat. I am jealous every time you either cook or eat crab.
