Ted Bear I've had tofu and disliked it very much, not sure what "good" tofu would be? I know it can be prepared different ways and ofcourse like anything there are premium brands, but to me no matter if it's the best of the best, it's still going to have that tofu flavor, which just isn't for me.

Tofu has no flavor, it absorbs the flavor of what ever you cook it with

Ted Bear So fermented tofu has no flavor? It's just not for me, like I said, not sure why you're so concerned with whether or not I enjoy tofu. I don't like it or want it, that means more for you, be happy!

Hello Ilse, I'm Cherry from Italy and I would like to tell you that you're really great and I always feel really good whenever I watch your videos. Really, thanks so much for your hard work! I have now a question about this Vegetarian Sauce you did. Since I don't really like onions, how should I put together with all the other ingredients? Could I put only 1 half? I don't know if there's actually something which can substitute onions, but if you have some suggestions, please tell me! Again, lot of love and wishes from Italy!
@TheWaterwhispersASMR

Yes another suggestion instead of onion could be leeks :) If you don't know what a leek is, google it and look at the pictures :) I only learned what that's called in English in the last few weeks or so :)

Amazing! That looks delicious! I don't know if you have an egg slicer at home, but I use that for the tinier mushrooms! So efficient! Also, a great way to thicken the sauce without flour (to avoid the raw floor flavor) is corn starch! I want to sleep but now I'm hungry.

This was great and I myself have been a vegetarian for 11 years so I'll definitely be trying this recipe out. I have a quick salt tip for you, if you put a little brown rice in the bottom of the salt shaker it helps so that it doesn't clump and stick to the bottom:)

I love to watch people prepare food. I've grown up around a mother who was a wonderful cook. Needless to say, my brother and I were chubby as little kids. Ooooo but it was soooo good. I've been vegetarian for over 20 years. The food I cook is mouth wateringly good. I go to my folks place at xmas and they always eat chicken and lamb and duck and beef and turkey etc. But I don't miss it. I have a portion of veg where some might have meat. It is really healthy. I do eat fish so that gives me lots of nutes that I wouldn't otherwise get. Real vegetarians see me as a hypocrite, but it's not a competition. If everyone adopted my diet there would be a massive shift. But people won't. That's ok. But I have learned to cook really delicious food and having fish maybe once or twice a week gives me all the nutrients I need. That and Marmite. Urgghh! Ah. Good video Ilse. I'd like to see more of you cooking stuff.

@Lirossy
@Lirossy 10 жыл бұрын
Oh, I wish silky tofu was more common in Europe, all tofu available here is the firm kind. I've heard that the silky one is great for making desserts and such, because it resembles pudding a little bit. Can't really do that with the firm one, also, the taste is not that great either ;d
@squid53214
@squid53214 10 жыл бұрын
Oh man, you are missing out. :p I have seen tofu here used as a dessert, but it isn't as common. However, it's almost like eating soy milk, but kind of different. (It's hard to explain) The reason why the tofu here feels silky is because they actually use silk to cut them! If you ever get a chance to try this kind of tofu (it's called kinugoshi), I highly recommend you try it.

Isnt the Japanese or Asian Tofu last proccess underwater? I remember seeing that people cut Tofu while they were still inside water containers, then moved into smaller containers to be moved around. So outside Asia its made just like cheese, dry.
@squid53214
@squid53214 10 жыл бұрын
Paco Inurreta Yes, here the cut it underwater. I was not aware people ever cut it outside of water... I would imagine it would make the tofu dry. I'm curious, does tofu where you live feel more like cheese than a silky smooth liquid-solid?
@Bacavoit
@Bacavoit 10 жыл бұрын
Squid53214 I cant really tell, I live in Mexico and I have only eaten once Tofu. I had it with a salad and it was kinda chewy (I guess it was the dry kind) so Im not really sure about the silky smooth texture. I didnt like it so after one bite I didnt eat the rest. :P
