For those who wish to make this themselves, but don't want to write down the recipe as she's talking (because really, this is for relaxing, right? lol.), here's the recipe: (you can correct any mistakes) 1-1/4 cup rice cereal (I'm not sure if this is right, but the page looked like it said 1-1/4 cup) 1 cup chocolate chips 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 cup corn syrup 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/2 stick of butter (This will be over medium heat.) 1. Melt the butter in the pan. 2. After the butter is melted, add the brown sugar, and stir continuously until melted together. 3. Add the condensed milk and corn syrup, and mix well. Let it sit until everything is combined. (~4 minutes in the video) 4. Add salt and vanilla 5. Turn off the heat 6. Add the cereal, stir well 7. Transfer to the lined/greased pan 8. Sprinkle more chocolate chips over the top, and leave them to melt (~5 minutes), then spread the chocolate to cover the whole thing. 9. Let cool/harden for 3 hours, and then cut and serve! :) Thank you for such an amazing video, Maria! :D

Dear Maria, I have been watching your videos for almost 2 years now. I suffer from bipolar disorder and extremely high anxiety. It makes it very difficult just to get through the day, and especially to sleep, especially during difficult and dark times. There are nights where I cry and cry and feel very alone, but when I watch your videos, somehow you make me feel so much better, especially when you speak very caring and positively to us... it feels as though you are talking to me and you remind me I am worth being loved and so much more. Just hearing your voice works so much better than any pill or drug I could ever take, and I cannot thank you enough for it. You are a wonderful, amazing, beautiful woman, inside and out. I don't usually comment or anything, but I want to let you know you have touched my life and helped me in ways no one or nothing on this earth has. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and your beautiful smile. :-) Much love, A nervous loving fan :-)

I'm not a big KZbin commenter either but I hope that Maria does see your comment :) It's so incredibly tough & lonely dealing with anxiety & major sleep issues (along with every other issue that goes along with that!) but I feel like ASMR has been the biggest help for me too, especially Maria's videos.. She just feels so genuine... And any relief we get at all is just priceless! I don't wana sound corny but just know you're not alone *hugs*

@jujubees58556 жыл бұрын
Some tips: Use foil pans. You can practically peel them off, then cut the pieces. I did chill mine for half hour before cutting AFTER allowing to completely cool on the counter. I made two pans of this. One exactly as this recipe, with Karo corn syrup. The other I sprinkled coarse kosher salt on top of the chocolate and some on the bottom where the toffee is sticky. Extra salt definitely added some flavor as was the preferred pan out of the two.

Lovely as always. But....only 34 calories? I'm finding that hard to believe.
@brendapale738810 жыл бұрын
I agree, the video is great but the calorie count has to be a mistake surely?!
@bakerka031310 жыл бұрын
It was 34 calories per bar, not the whole pan.
@brendapale738810 жыл бұрын
Yes I understood that she meant 34 calories per piece, but given the ingredients that seems impossible.

A tiny snack size box of raisins is 45 calories. How likely that a piece of that (which is roughly the same size as the box of raisins) would be 34 calories. Just sayin.

Yeah, I thought soo too. I just posted this above, but I'll repost it here: (Skip to the bottom to see the count on the pieces she cut) "Maria, those looked almost too good to be true, so I plugged all the ingredients into fitday, and it came up as almost 2,600 calories for the whole recipe... That sounded like a lot given how big those pieces looked, and that you said it was 34 calories per piece, so I looked up the original recipe. I found a picture of the same one you showed. That calorie count is for one and a half inch pieces assuming you use a 9-inch square pan (which is a fair bit larger than an 8-inch square pan, so you'd have much thinner pieces) and it's cut into four and a half ~dozen~ squares. That's 54 pieces. When I did the math it came up as 48 calories for each of the 54 pieces, instead of 34. I can't tell what size pan you used, so: If you used an 8-inch pan, making one and a half inch pieces, you'd get 42 pieces (42 and two thirds to be exact, but I rounded) and each one would be 60.7 calories. In a 6-inch pan, you would get 24 one and a half inch pieces, and each would be 108 calories. You cut the whole recipe into 12 pieces. Regardless of pan size, that would be 216 calories per piece."

But for real, if you look at log cabins ingredients, the first one is “corn syrup” maple flavoring is way down the list. So she’s not even wrong. 😂

Melt those chocolate chips with some heavy cream in a saucepan, make a ganache then pour that over the top to cool and you won't believe what a difference it makes, steps it up a bit.

Not sure I would try this because I am not a big fan of toffee, but I am a big fan of you. I could watch a video of you washing those dishes afterwards and still enjoy the vibes.
