I hope you enjoy making our summer supper together - rustic, cottage cooking is my very favorite. Get started with Endel and tap into increased focus right here: app.adjust.com/b8wxub6?campai...
Miso dressing:
2 tablespoons miso
2 tablespoons organic brown sugar
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon mustard
Flatbreads:
4 cups all purpose flour (I use einkorn)
2 tablespoons honey
3 teaspoons sea salt
3 teaspoons yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
Melted butter, for serving
Mix all the ingredients (except the butter) in a large bowl. Transfer to a surface and knead until smooth. Separate into small pieces before rolling in discs and cooking in a hot skillet until bubbly and puffy. Brush with butter.

Living in a tent this summer without running water or electricity, I’ve had to learn to do things like my great great grandmother. Each morning I put a pot of beans to soak. Then I rinse and drain yesterday’s beans, bring them to a boil, and stick them in the sun oven. Then I mix up some bread dough to cook in a skillet for a grilled veggie lunch wrap. Then I make morning oats or farinata aka very veggie vegan omelet. I have a tiny garden but get most of my veg from the farmer down the road. Next year we’ll put in the big garden, greenhouse, orchard, flowers, herbs, and berries. But before this new adventure we lived in AZ, where we learned to do outdoor work from 4 am until mid morning before the heat hit in full force. Living through the hottest summer in NE Wa ever, i have continued this practice. I cooked like that three meals a day when my five kids (and their million friends) were home. Now, I cook lots of fresh veg for myself and husband. I miss the crazy busy days but am grateful that they taught me how to work my systems. Systems kept me from overwhelm and burn out-still do.

You should have a channel. So many people have had to make this their new normal because of this crazy world. But people need to know how you live. Suppose someone wants land and they have to live in a tent on their homestead before they can build the house. I'd be interested.

I have always thought it would be cool if someone on KZbin had a channel where they could showcase what it must have been like for the women back in the Bible says when they lived in tents. I have looked and could never find anything like that on KZbin.

Thank you, Shea! So I'm in Massachusetts and don't have children but I feel you in the yearning for growing our own food and bringing it into the kitchen to process and share with loved ones (and yes, it's hot as heck here right now so I'll try your flatbread skillet recipe). Really, what I wanted to say was cooking tonight and watching your vlog while I was doing it was very in the feels for me. What a connection. And the jazz! My husband travel to NYC in the autumn every year. It's kind of our New Year because he proposed to me on the Brooklyn Bridge and the jazz you're playing with your vlogs is hitting me in a good place. Plan...improvise...do what we can in our own kitchens...share it with our loved ones...create and share the journey....jazzy indeed and my heart is full. xoxo Colleen

You absolutely inspire me to not forget that the work behind everything is still worth it ✨ 💛 at the end of an exhausting day of early morning shifts with my husband then coming home to our 4 kids 6 and under and tending to their every need, dishes piled up from making dinner, house is in "shambles " ( my favorite word you use all the time 😄) because we didn't even have a chance to clean because of the whole raising kids part 😅 but I sit down to draw a little inspiration from your next video at the end of the day and am always eagerly waiting to see what beautiful food you have created for not the fanciest people in the world, not your neighbors, but for just your family is absolutely admirable ❤ Ps. Beautiful. Here in northeastern Ontario it’s been a rainy summer. The last frost was late, and I haven’t had to water this garden all summer long. I was actually worried it was getting too soggy. Things aren’t as productive as it should be, but it’s good enough for me. I just did some green tomato relish and pickled some tomatoes as well yesterday. But my cucumbers are really small and my peppers aren’t turning red. When I get something out of the garden, I am that much more appreciative of it. It’s getting sunny now, so here’s hoping things pick up. Peace and love and thanks for sharing. 💕
