My most influential person I’ve had in my life was my stepdad. He married my mom and raised 5 kids as his own when he didn’t have to even when he couldn’t see his own 2 girls. He loved us unconditionally and taught us kids how to survive no matter the hardships. He passed away when I was 12 in 1986 and no greater man ever had my heart completely! I will never forget how he taught me to read at the age of 4 by having me read the Bible every night as he sat beside me as I struggled to learn to read. That reading of the Bible with him continued every night until he passed away. Now, I still find comfort thinking of him as I read the Bible today.

My best influencer is my Momaw who is 80. She is the backbone of the family . For years she cooks Sunday dinner on sat night an I’m talking enough to feed about 30 of us now since all the kids have come about now. She gets up Sunday before church pulls all the cooked food out of ofridge then puts in two ovens on 180 to heat for everyone to show up after church… she will never go first in line an won’t sit down til everyone else does . It drives me insane. She has never ever had a license bc my popaw who is 81 believes wherever he goes she goes and they made it work this long . They have a routine and shower together at same time every night together, lay in bed watching 10 pm news an then kiss each other an say goodnight I love you. They are a true example of how marriage and trust should be . My popaw called her blondie in her younger days bc she was blonde but now she is all silver but he still calls her his sweet blondie ! She never an he never missed one single softball game as I was growing up and now they never miss their great grands . She loves watching 🥎. I know my Momaw is getting older and one day I won’t have her but gosh I cherish her now . I love her selflessness …❤❤

Dan, that vinegar bbq sauce is the traditional sauce used here in SC for whole hog bbq's and pork shoulder or pork butt's as well. Whole hog bbq was our Christmas tradition for years with real pork fried skins. We also do bbq Turkey with the vinegar bbq sauce as well.

Finally NC!! And you chose the BBQ from my hometown Lexington style is the best! The cooks will put the shoulder on a table and use two cleavers to chop it. You can also have it sliced. We normally don’t have pulled. Also the “sauce” is called “Dip” so if you go to Lexington ask for the dip. We don’t eat traditional Cole slaw but Red slaw. Its base is ketchup/vinegar based like the dip! Hushpuppies are a must! Lexington is only 45 minutes from where you guys did your meet and greet in Concord. Glad you liked it!!

I lived in NC. for 25 years and our friends always had pig pickin's. They made a grill out of a big barrel and a couple of people would stay outside all night watching it cook and keep the wood going. About 13/14 hours. They always had the vinigar sauce and it was so good. Soooo tender and juicy. Yum. I can taste it now. lol

❤ our NC barbecue nothing else like it. We make our own sauce( Apple cider base), best to let it sit for a few months prior to using, so its not so strong. If you can't cook a whole hog you can use a Boston butt or a pork shoulder. We have even cooked it in the oven, if we were not able to smoke it. Glad the family liked our traditional sauce. We don't do sweet for the barbecue, but we do for other meats and other cuts of pork ( like chops). I think Dan would love to have a pig cooker. They are huge and typically have a hitch and you can pull them anywhere. Lol

Great video tonight! I'm honestly surprised that everyone loved a NC vinegar Bbq sauce given I imagine you are used to the same Bbq sauce that I am which is a thick swet brown colored sauce. I typically do not like NC vinegar sauces, but, had one from Bojangles the other night that I really liked. I would love to try the special NC vinegar sauce that you were sent. Way to support a Christian owned business too! You all had me in tears as you each described your most influential person in your lives! When Lou said you Dan I began to cry. Imho, that is how it should be in a good marriage and her answer was very telling and when Bri said Dan introduced her to Jesus, my eyes really began to leak! ❤ Buddy and Steph were sweetly predictable as they seem to share such a beautiful marriage and relationship! Kim sharing that Jami is Levi's favorite surprised me in one way, only because I wouldn't think they get to see each other much and we don't get to see them interact very much on anyone's videos, however, we do see Steph, Buddy, Bri, Dan and PawPaw interact extra lovingly with Levi and we see those interactions more on family videos. Who wouldn't love Jami? That is so sweet that she is Levi's favorite person. And after watching this video tonight I discussed with my husband about who you all said were most influential in your lives and I came to learn something that I did NOT know. He surprised me with volunteering who he felt was most influential and said was his "hero" in life and he said it was me!! 💗😢 i was in shock and feel very undeserving of that! I certainly figured it was his Mom, who he loved dearly, who became a single Mom when her husband ran off and left her with 9 children when my husband (# 9 baby) was only 2 yrs. old. She didn't get any assistance of any kind from him to raise those kids in what already was a very poor family who lived in the rural Appalachian mountains. So, thanks to this video, my husband shared a beautiful and surprising thing with me tonight! He is not one to talk about his feelings. He is a true mountain man. God bless all of the Morrow family!
