You might not know, but most of the coal miners were Italian. And their pepperoni sandwiches aka "Italian handpies" were baked so they would put a couple of sandwiches into their lunch buckets. If you noticed the coal miners lunch buckets carried into the coalmines, are multi-level because drinks and snacks were included with the tin.

My family lived deep in the heart of what is now WV before the separation. I myself was born there, moved back to care for family members, and stayed for 15 yrs. I worked in a school kitchen for a few yrs. I helped to make so many pepperoni rolls. We piled so many pieces of pepperoni in the center of dough we could barely seal them. Don't recall adding cheese to them. If it were my own way, I would add a lil cheese and sauce to my own. But want to say thank you for doing WV first. We are the younger state.

I’m from Wv, I love Pepperoni Rolls ! You will see them all over Wv in most little stores,gas stations etc,they’re very popular.When I make them I use more pepperoni ,no cheese .Another thing you can do with the leftover ones ,cold ,is split the top partly open ,Put in some pizza sauce,some Italian peppers in sauce and top with mozzarella cheese ,put in the oven just long enough to melt or slightly brown the cheese .You want the rolls to be a little toasty .Awesome!

I count as well and sometimes I don't even know. But my biggest quirk is i like to eat even numbers. If there's an uneven #of M&Ms on the bag, I either leave one or get another bag 😂😊

I want to do everything in even numbers also. If a recipe says 3 cups I do 2 whole cups and 2 half cups. I change things constantly to make them into even numbers, steps, bites whatever I am doing. ❤

A quick tip when you have 2 pans in the oven. Place one pan per rack and switch halfway through baking. The heat needs to circulate to avoid burnt bottoms and having two pans side by side traps the heat. Having said that, those pizza rolls looked yummy and a perfect Sunday football snack for my son and his buddies!

As a Virginian it’s ok you put West Virginia before us, after all they used to be a part of us!! You mentioned salt rising bread. My grandma was from the mountains of Virginia and that was her favorite bread. It is so good!!! My quirk is counting the same as yours and I’m also applying chap stick non stop. A tip to do when making dough things like this i take a short leg cooling rack & put in sheet pan & it makes an air flow under bottom so they don't get dark/burnt on bottoms.

When baking dough recipes remove from pan to cooling rack so they don't get burnt .....cuz they will continue to cooks they cool if left on pan Same with cookies

Dan I too count steps when walking climbing ! My quirk is I flipp my nose with my hand so when it’s running and snuff so much that my nose is kinda turned up. Been doing this since I was a preschooler so my poor nose. I have allergies so my nose is always running!😂😊❤❤!

Kim's quirk is constantly covering her mouth when she smiles. I do the same thing you do Dan. I count everything. I count how many steps I take, how many times I stir something, doesn't matter what I'm doing I count. I also squeeze & stretch my eyes open & closed lol.

Norma here I guess I have quite a few quirks. I also count everything and I check everything at least twice, sometimes even more. For instance, before going to bed, I’ll check that the door is locked and the stove is off, then I’ll go back to check them again even though I know I already checked. I’m also a worry wart and like Kim, I sway side to side when I’m standing. Levi is so adorably funny. 😢 Yes, Buddy is constantly stroking his beard. Drives me crazy and I love the sound Bri makes whenever she’s lifting something. Pepperoni rolls are so good and yours looked great even with the coal bottoms.

The only real quirks that I think I have is that I am very picky about how my dishwasher is loaded and how laundry is folded. I don't allow my husband to put dishes in the dishwasher and if he folds laundry I usually end up refolding it. I use Rhodes Rolls as pizza crust all of the time! 😋

Quirks? I eat things in pairs. Two fries, two green beans, two M&Ms... Optimally, the items should also be the same size. When they are different colors like M&Ms the pair has to be the same color. If there are leftovers they are saved for later, given to someone else (or dogs if safe) or thrown away.

Oh I just love these cooking shows, thank you guys so much. Levi, on point little dude lol. You know as we watch these we could all tell y'all what your quirks are but we'll save that for another day lol. I think my favorite for Kim is she covers her mouth when she's talking, she's so funny. By the way Kim tell people to close their eyes if they get dizzy from movement lol. That's one of my quirks is when people watch a video and then they complain because of something they're watching. Dear Lord people turn the video off or close your eyes. You're not that simple-minded or maybe you are lol. I have a suggestion for next year. I think we need to bring back Dan Dan the Bakerman! Start January 1 with each state going with something that they are known for sweet wise. Could be pastry, a cake a candy something on that line. I know a few of the states this year you went that route but tried doing that the whole year. Like I'm from Ohio I know we have other things but one thing we're known for is Buckeye candy. They look like little buckeyes in the center has a peanut butter powdered sugar center and it's dipped in chocolate and they look like little buckeyes. They are so good y'all would love them. I follow the whole Morrow family. I have been with Lester from the beginning. I was born and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia . It’s a beautiful state and home for my entire family. If you look at our state, you’ll see a panhandle at the top. That is what is known as the northern panhandle and that’s where I live. I can be in Ohio in five minutes and PA in 15 minutes. Fun fact.
