Interesting! Dolma is made across many many Middle Eastern countries, and it's super interesting to see the Turkish way. In Libya we make it with grape leaves, and we use lamb (chopped finely), onion, tomato, parsley, rice, turmeric, paprika, salt, and a Libyan mixed spice. Then you put it on a bed of some lamb with bones if you want, potato slices, and then stack the Dolma on top of it. After it's done cooking, you can pour olive oil on it, and LEMON to make it zesty. And you flip it over and it's just the most delicious dish ever. Love it to bits. We also do it with bell peppers (mahshi), zucchini, eggplants, potatos, tomatoes, etc...lots of veggies to stuff!

Omg! When my Turkish neighbours moved in a few houses down from me.. they hardly spoke English but I made the effort to get to know them and go have tea and biscuits with them and to thank me, they brang this over freshly cooked but it was with fresh eggplants not the dried ones and it was SO GOOD! I've always forgotten to ask them what the dish was called and because of the language barrier it was abit hard to ask but I'm so glad I found it and know what it's called and how to make it!

I’m half Turkish and no joke this is my all time favourite dish the taste about 10 mins before it’s finished cooking we heat up some oil and add garlic and dry mint let it cook for barely a minute and pour over the dolma then finish cooking it,is sensational!! Specially with yogurt ❤️

The word 'Dolma' means to stuff or fill'. And because this dish is filled or stuffed with a stuffing it is called dolma. We use the same word for vine leaf rolls. You can also stuff anything especially capsicums and even potatoes tomatoes.

Dolma does not mean dry eggplant. Dolma means stuffed, as in stuffed paprika, zucchini, potato, onion... whatever vegetable you want. Eggplant in turkish is called patlican 😊 who doesn’t love turkish food 🤤🤤😍
