Thank you for showing me how to use white asparagus. I've only had it from a jar. My mama told me that the only way to eat it is in Springtime in Germany. I always wanted to go back and see Germany with her, but she died last June. She loved strawberries.🍓

I grow wild garlic in my garden in the East coast of the US. I have to start the seeds in my fridge, as they need 3 months cold storage before they will germinate. They are delicious, and the local wildlife love them too, so I don’t always get my fair share. Kohlrabi grows well here as well, and I love it roasted with carrots and potatoes. Thank you for showcases these lovely spring dishes!

Hi Marta, we do have wild or white spring garlic in the United States. It goes by the name...ramps and is normally found wild from Virginia north. I had kohlrabi when I was younger but I don't think I liked it very much. I do eat alot of strawberries currently I enjoy them most in smoothies or shakes with other berries. Big healthy drink.
@cooking-the-world3 жыл бұрын
You might want to try the Kohlrabi again, you know that the taste changes with the time ;) what do you cook with wild garlic?
@paulbegansky56503 жыл бұрын
@@cooking-the-world the ramps are sold to very high end restaurants. Most prepare it simply Sautee with butter and herbs. I have eaten it once, by cooking them they become very mild. As for kohlrabi, it is rarely found where I am. When I was young, my parents planted two rows of it. I would like to try it again, just need to find a place that can prepare it correctly. Kohlrabi in Oklahoma, not going to happen here.

I grew up eating German food because my parents are from Luebeck but Italian food is my favorite - Sorry.

I´m sitting here drooling like a hungry dog while I´m waiting for proper white asparagus to hit the shelves up here in Sweden, and the best asparagus (Sparris in swedish) comes , in my humble opinion, from Schleswig-Holstein!! Just give me a field of aspargus, a big cauldron filled with simmering water salted just the right way, a few brötchen, and about two cows worth of good and properly salted butter and I´ll be in heaven!! Soooo lecker!!!
