There is a commercially available watercolour gen. manganese blue from the company Wallace Seymour. They bought up very large stocks of 1980's era pigment. They also have now manufactured totally new gen. manganese blue themselves, but this is presently only available in oil.

Ahhhh! Just what my brain needs! An Oto x Qor video! I am a sucker for Prussian blue. Always was, always will be.

I cannot thank you enough for doing this entire range! I love QoR, and this has helped me narrow down some choices. ❤

Love this series about Qor. Discovering that the phthalo blue leans more to the red than to green, is helping me a lot to understand why certain things didn’t work out the way I expected. Now that you said it I can see it too, but I would have never realized it by myself.

I agree with you and other commenters--that Prussian is the most gorgeous I've seen!

I now cannot imagine my Tuesday morning without your QoR swatching videos haha Prussian Blue surprised me a lot even though I still don't really understand this colour. Out of the whole 'cool blue' family I always used to pick Phthalo as the most basic colour but lately I've been leaning a lot towards cerulean for its amazing grey mixes!

That Prussian! I have a perfectly good (W&N) Prussian and yet I _...have something to put on my Christmas list_ (besides PAPER, and more paper, all the paper!). *That's* flocculating! (Iron oxides, they flake and clump) but I think my W&N Prussian is a bit tame compared to the QoR! I'd really hoped the ceruleans would "pop" for me, but I guess I just like the PB35 "tone" (hue) a hair more than the PB36es. (DS has "defined" Manganese Blue for me now. Yes it's probably a brightener in the DS but, it's just a great paint. All the surprises are happy surprises; no idea what QoR was thinking here). Lovely video as always! You could write QoR and say, "Hey, why don't you try to make a PB35 paint!" 😂 I'd try it! (QoR probably avoids it due to low tinting strength?) LOVE that Prussian though! I wouldn't turn any of these away, of course. Even that phthalo looks like it could pass for both PB15:6 in mass tone, AND PB15 GS, which is impressive imo.

Yes true, never thought of "warm tropical cool coloured seas". Also the hottest part of the flame is the blue part. So I am not surprized about the confusion Thanks Dr Kano for your work and videos! In kindred spirit, Eliza Dulwich Hill, Sydney Australia 10th November 3:56pm

I am living through you vicariously because I don’t own any Qor at all but I’m intrigued by their fast moving action I’ve seen online. Thank you.

Prussian Blue is quite a surprise to me. Maybe I'll try it one day once I run out of the Phthalos. Very nice shade to be honest. But most of the pigments QOR is using are pretty. I really have to limit myself on which of the colors I want to buy next if I need anything new. I'm looking forward for the earth tones episode.

And I love the Prussian Blue but also the Cerulian Chrom. is one of my favorite blues for its particular hue and granulation. I feel it‘s sometimes even quite warm and other times cool. (Depending on the other colors on the paper 😊). ❤️

How do they react with salt? Blues for winter landscapes with salt snowflakes would look so good!

Great comparison video! These colors are quite similar looking on small swatches and online so it really helps to see the gradations and mixes you provide. The Cerulean Blue Chromium and French Cerulean, for example, are much more different than I realized. And that Prussian Blue is lovely and moody, definitely on my list.

Oh my goodness, I forgot how much I love that Qor Prussian Blue, must be because of your comment that has some Indigo shade?

I think my favorite is the Prussian. It is consoling me until I can get QoR’s indanthrone, which has been impossible to find here in the US for ages - am waiting for Jackson’s to restock it in December. I have a thing for good indanthrones and your last video had me more convinced than ever that this would be my dream indanthrone. I also love manganese, but miss the real thing, although recently when digging through some very old art supplies in my closet I found a tube of Holbein’s which is actually manganese (and it still had a toxic label on it). 💙💙💙

Hey! I actually have a full size tube of Qor Indanthrone Blue that is completely unused; I ordered Prussian Blue in a curbside-pickup order from my local art store sometime last year, and they added it by accident instead of Prussian (I already had Indanthrone). Since it was covid times, they weren't accepting returns/exchanges so I basically got it for free! I can send it to you if you want to send me a PM or an email and it's yours!

@@alanefideler7234 Wow! That is incredibly kind of you! However, after I posted this earlier today, I did another sort of automatic search and, much to my surprise, the Art Supply Warehouse actually had it in stock and, naturally, I ordered it at lightning speed - my fingers tripping over themselves. :-) But thank you SO much for offering! You're living proof of the generous spirit that exists in the art community. Oh, and I had to smile at that one positive result of covid times for you. Indanthrone working its magic. :-)
