Love Mime? This is my Japan Mime Performance I will be teaching soon. I won a Competition in LA and was flown to Japan to be the special guest performer 6 months later.

It's okay that he makes noise. Notice that he's also not wearing the traditional white gloves and face makeup? He's just doing it in a different way which is completely fine.

Why are people hating on this? Tyson is very skilled in what he does and this was IMO pretty innovative as far as Mime performances go. His rope illusion is not as easy as it looks. And he did that cool wicking jump spin kick which shows he really know a little martial arts.

Mime tells a story PRIMARILY through movement, but is still mime even if words are spoken. So while this presentation was definitely a mime, what it still wasn't was interesting to watch. Too bad most mimes are clueless about how to actually entertain their audiences.

Mime and Pantomime are slightly different things. The word mime comes from the Greek mimeisthai, which means "to imitate." Traditionally, pantomime doesn't use words. There are variations such as Corporeal Mime, whose intent is to get the character into the body, but not necessarily with total exclusion of the voice. The thing is, it's art. Art evolves, changes, adapts. People use music, others call that cheating. Some us a word here or there, sound effects, props.

Hm, I give you credit on the rope bid. that was probably my favorite, the only part where i could actually mentally visualize the objects. Pretty good, although, like others said, if your doing a pantomime, there is supposed to absolute silence. But, whatever floats.good job.

I do agree that mimes are meant to be done soli w/o noise at all, and yes also music behind does give it an essence like silent movies BUT I do think that it is really good at the same time. Congrats on your trip to Japan btw, keep up the good work!

Mime is without speech.....sound effects has been used in lots of mime performances in the past. Cottereau is a good example of use of vocal sound effects! Just to let you know!!

this is a popular misconception. there are the strictly silent mimes but also mimes who grunt and make noises to convey emotion. because he makes noises he is simply a different type of mime.
