The Hypershock is probably my favorite toy in the line even including the platinums from last year. I feel like it has a lot more weapon power than any other of the toys in the range and many times it has been able to flip my other robots with the spinner which is awesome for a toy out of the box. It was a shame that the Platinum Rivals didn’t come back for this year but i still think this pack stands on its own.

I don’t think the rivals platinum was ever supposed to be a replacement for the old rivals, as the regular ones are cheaper and not every bot in the show has 2 functions

Agreed, I think they’ll save platinum releases for the more complex machines as they have to charge more for a more complex design like that just from a cost of production standpoint. In terms of aesthetics I think both rivals and platinum match each other very well so I’m not bothered one way or the other really..I just want more!

I'm starting to absolutely love these Battlebot models!! Will have to see if I can get the arena and some RC Battlebots for Christmas! These are absolutely epic!! I especially love Rotator, Rusty and Blacksmith! That hammer man! Rusty is so cool and cute at the same time for me. Though the spinners are extremely awesome too!

I got my hands on the Hypershock single package a month ago. Needless to say the purchase was worth it. Very versatile on the curves, very powerful spinner, and the only complaint I have is the responsiveness to the controller ( it takes 1-2 seconds for it to pickup). Other than that, I love it, and I think Will Bales must be very proud to have toys of his robot being made!

You should have noted that this is the seventh wave of rcs, but officially the sixth addition to the regular Rivals releases; showing that the Platinum series is indeed separate from the regular line, reserved for rechargeable dual action.

Overall I really really like this set. I'm over the moon that hypershock finally got a toy, and what a brilliant one at that. The weapon and drive power are phenomenal aswell the paint job. Rusty i also really like and I think could be improved with a few paint applications, however the function is really nice aswell as the power of the hammer. My prediction for next year is that we'll hopefully get another platinum set, I'd personally pick skorpios and tantrum as with skorpios they've already got a base to work of with sawblaze and with tantrum one button could control the spinner while the other moves it up and down the track.

An interesting choice from Hexbug, but makes no difference to me as the Hexbug UK store has still not listed the SawBlaze/Whiplash set. Makes me think these will not be coming to the UK.

@@davejavu4806 Thanks, I didn't know this. I had a look but an additional $30 for shipping and taxes makes the SawBlaze/Whiplash set $110. Annoyingly, the SawBlaze/Whiplash set is advertised in the promotion video on the UK site, they just choose not to have it in stock. :(

Update: I was playing hypershock against last years sawblaze, and hypershock literally broke sawblaze’s spinner. Detached it and it doesn’t spin anymore

Yeah it’s a bit annoying that they are AAA but with 3.2-3.7 volt batteries they are incredibly fast and fun to use. Hypershock especially as it’s spinner and wedge combo allows it to flip bots fairly easily. It does still have the turning problem including Rusty as well but it is not as bad.

For the 2023 rivals I want end game to have its own toy

The ears are missing the pink and black decals on the back and the lightning bolts on the front. They also need to add the pink stickers on the sides of the tires. The HyperShock rivets also need to be painted black. The front of the top has to say HyperShock in bronze. The pink and black decals are done differently on the real machine and the red and black decals are missing from the bottom corners of the plow. They also need to add the black stripe with the gold HyperShock team logo. And they should have gone with the double disc with the arrows in the center. And the bottom has to be black and say self right more like self wrong in white letters to make this machine look pitch perfect to it’s real life counterpart.

Another great review Stephen :) Absolutely love the Hypershock replica, not too sold on the Rusty design... The immense hammer has won me over though, so it gets a pass ;) Shame about the batteries though. I thought they would stick to the rechargeable ones for their new releases, but perhaps they thought for kids it's better to have AAA's? Strange decision for sure.

I think the Rivals and Platinum Rivals will be two seperate releases, maybe one per alternating year? So hopefully in 2023 we will get a lipo set!
