Coolant Change - Holden Captiva LTZ Diesel 2.2L

In this video I replace the engine coolant. The coolant is drained then refilled with distilled water, engine is run to flush the system then drained again and refilled with new coolant.

For people having overheating issues... the fan control module located on the the fan shroud is known to short out. This will stop your fans from running. Proper diagnosis will let you know if that is the problem. I spent a whole day going over the car with a power probe and mutlimeter checking fuses and relays so i hope this helps save someone else a headache

Thanks - needed the location of the radiator bleed, this video delivered. I think there is ~ 9l in the cooling system.

Cool video, thank you. I've just bought a captiva 2.2D this weekend. Cooling system has water in so will need to flush and fill with coolant. Please can you Tel me how to access the coolant temp reading you were showing on your dashboard. My captiva also has no coolant temp gauge, but I can only see odometer on that centre display on the dash. Thank you.

There are some buttons where you can see the fuel economy values, I think it is the second button, with a picture of a car and the letter "i", it will only show the temperature when the engine is running.

Good video. I was wondering where the drain plug located. As for the coolant, a little trick I did on my other car is to add all water in the radiator. Drive the car around and every 2-3 days add coolant. Continue to add coolant until the water level no longer goes down. In that way you get the right ratio for your car. Not all cars are created equal.

Hey mate, im trying to do a transmission flush on my 2.2 2015 diesel, me and others keep running into the issue of trans temp not going into the range 85-95'C to do a proper level drain hole, i dont want to mess it up, do you have any information on this situation? do you have a scan tool that can double check your trans temp and show us/me what temps you drive around with?

The app I use unfortunately does not show transmission temperature.

@@captivalife oh man, well i cant get the trans hot enough to the required trans temp to do a proper level plug drain, i dont know what to do.

​@@jetn4677 Don't worry, if you have put inside same amount as you've drained, then you are alright. I've had same problem, I've put in same amount as I've drained. 35°C outside and to the hell with it, I could have not get trans temp up to spec for checking fluid. But eventually after long standing on brake and D gear, it got up to 85°C, quickly removed the check bolt and it had just a little bit more than needed. 6T45, 6 speed auto, Captiva.

I haven't had the chance to test that out yet. My temperature reading is usually between 86-92 deg Celsius. We are coming into summer soon so maybe this would be a good experiment to try.
