The #1 way to keep the carbon off the pistons and increase the life of your engine is to invest in some type of APU and use it when you shut down for your 10hr break or waiting at a shipper or receiver don't idle the truck over 30 minutes and if you're sitting for more than 10 minutes idle the engine rpms up to 900rpms keep your oil pressure at 40 or more this tricks the engine and it thinks it's running down the road, 2nd when you're driving your truck watch your shift point don't tact your engine above 1600rpms will throw your valve adjustment off the ISX Cummins will set itself if you tact it at 1500rpms and get great fuel mileage and also pull like a BEAST one more tip if you have the automatic have the computer set to where the transmission will shift at 1500rpm and watch what the fuel mileage does you'll be amazed!

Right here is proof the manufacturers of these heavy duty diesel engines design these engines cheap as they can why would any manufacturer just put one seal to separate coolant from oil on a cylinder liner there should be two gaskets one as a backup but nope 🤷🤦💯

Adam what engine would you say is more reliable nowadays. DD15 or ISX15 I'm looking at a couple of 2018-2019 trucks. I have a computer with all the softwares, so having to go to a dealer to diagnose small sensor or codes issues won't be a problem. I'm referring to mayor repairs, downtime and cost of parts. What would you say has been your experience or what have you seen the most coming to your shop with problems, what is the hardest to find parts and the longest wait - downtimes of the 2. Thanks for your insight, great videos man, you are helping a lot of ppl. Keep up the good work 👏

How much does a job like that cost to fix including labor ? Also what temperature does diesel fuel usually burn at ? I see additives that reduce engine temperature which supposably reduces carbon build up. But it seems like you want to INCREASE engine temperature to reduce carbon buildup
@deepmandal12563 жыл бұрын
Raising the temperature of the engine it is one of the major problem to build up the carbon inside the combustion chamber. It required equal proportional of air/ fuel ratio in order to reduce unburned carbon deposition inside the chamber.

I'm looking at a 2016 Cascadia. I smell coolant in the oil. The owner is saying that it is a common problem and its not worth fixing. Sign of bad maintenance?

I got a 2017 cascadia. Which probably has the 2016 DD15. Don't know forsure(let me know how to check). But either way, I heard the oil pump fails at 400k, I got 388k on it. Is that too soon to change a oil pump? I really don't want it to lock up
@TATEXPRESSINC3 жыл бұрын
Are you getting a low oil pressure alarm? Most of the time, it's just the oil suction o-rings. You may change o-rings as preventive maintenance. You should get signs of low oil pressure and be sure to be current with maintenance.
@joelrodriguez23853 жыл бұрын
@@TATEXPRESSINC none of those signs yet. I bought the truck at 354K and the dealer said they changed the rubbers on it. But I'm just basing this on he said she said , i don't know if they really did change them.. but now that I know the signs. I'll be careful and look out for them. Thanks alot man really.

Just changed my oil pump and seals, injector cups and O-ring with cam housing seals on my DD15 with 630k. Preventative maintenance is the best solution to all problems. Change me coolant at least every 180k.

Carbon buildup is caused by regeneration. When soot can't get out, it cycles back through the engine. Give me a glider kit engine
@davidsignor79313 жыл бұрын
Carbon packing on the pistons is caused by the EGR system it doesn't have anything to do with regeneration. That has its own problems, way too many to list
