COOLANT LEVEL LOW! Duramax L5P how to replace coolant level sensor and expansion tank

I've had the dreaded "COOLANT LEVEL LOW" message intermittently despite having full coolant. The sensor is molded into the tank so the whole tank must be replaced. so how did you fill the overflow part of the tank?

black IS ground, no need to cover it. That whole piece on the positive side folds up, no need to remove all of the positive cables still hot from your other battery. Second you could just make a jumper across the sensor connector or snip the 2 wires and twist them together. Personally I don't need the truck to tell me the coolant is low, haven't had one that did for 50 years.

Hi Sir, I put new canister with sensor put sone coolant and still getting coolan low add coolant, there is any wrong that I do? I run the car for 5 minutes and nothing.

Let it warm up to full temperature and recheck level

@ I did it sir, I run the car for few hours and fill up to level, and again, disconect the two batteries and still. Any sugestions?

Looked like your problem was your secondary tank being empty

you can't get a "bucket" under there to catch coolant...

All owners with this error need to file a complaint against Chevy for the MANUFACTURERS DEFECT because the defective coolant reservoir tank causes this issue by not permitting the top of the tank to flow down to the bottom of the tank where the sensor is.

100% recall worthy. Took me adding coolant into the return line port to fill it to get the new one to stop complaining.

@@WildMountainGarage I used a long, thin drill bit to core a hole from the top to the bottom tank. While it now drains from the top to the bottom tank and SHAZAM the coolant flowed from the top to the bottom of the tank where the sensor is. MANUFACTURER DEFECT 100%! Chevy wanted $675 (just for the tank and sensor) to resolve their DEFECTIVE.

You didn't even know about filling up the bottom of the tank?

@@marsbougie Even after filling the bottom tank fluid that enters the overflow will NOT return to the lower tank.

Sensor is not in the bottom, and the bottom is an overflow res only. Still bad quality by Chevy
