Got a fleet of 2017-2019 duramaxes and this helped a couple of the trucks that this was happening too! Good stuff sir!

Thanks for the video. I've got a 2017 and have had this tank replaced TWICE by the stealer. Fortunately both under warranty. Happened at 58k and 91k. My $1000 extended warranty paid for both, thank goodness!

thanks for posting this. Ive been having the issue with the low coolant notification coming on, even though my resevoir is full. I watched a bunch of videos of people drilling and filling up the overflow tank, but that didnt make sense to me why they would fill that up. Looking forward to part two of this video.

I recently uploaded the video that will guide you step by step on how to remove the battery to gain access to the reservoir tank and removing the tank along replacing it. Thank you watching my videos.

I'm in a 2019, This tank was replaced for me under warranty in August of 2021, It's now February of 2023 and it's failed again. Apparently these sensors only have a life span of about a year and a half at least in my experience. I was thinking maybe I should just by 2 that way I have for the next time with out the price increase that will surly come. Then I realized I'll probably be in a new truck by this time next year so I won't need an extra. Guess I should check out the Fords and Rams Maybe they have parts that last more than a year and a half. Thanks for letting me vent!!! I feel a little better!

Thanks for the info with the turkey baster, light kept coming on when starting, cleared it everytime I started the truck, didn't check the lower coolant level, was going to replace resovouir but being a newer truck didn't see spending the money, was going to jump the sensor wire but didn't. So it took your advise and filled the lower tank and wa-la! No coolant light Thanks Again I got my truck back

Thank you for watching my video, I am glad you were able to solve the annoying low coolant warning.

Is the bottom portion of the tank suppose to be empty or full? ...I thought I read somewhere that the lower tank is the overflow portion of the tank and it needs to be empty.
@flperformancegarage41632 ай бұрын
The bottom section isn't filled completely. If you remove the bottom cap, you'll notice a small hole inside the cap cavity. The fluid level should be below that hole. Be sure to check it when the truck is cold, not hot.

@@flperformancegarage4163 Thank you very much for your quick response. I'll check the level, per your advice. BTW - I was able to download the Owner's Manual, but it was very vague and stated that the lower tank should be mostly empty, versus stating that it should be 1/3, 1/4, or 1/8 full... ...so it was inconclusive and frustrating.

FYI - My Truck is a 2017 Chevy Silverado Duramax 2500HD LTZ Z71 4X4 Midnight Edition... ...so you have a couple years on me.😆 ...but I've been blessed and I'm only at 75k miles.

I'm not changing my tank just because the sensor is bad. Keep it full and check it often.
@flperformancegarage4163 Жыл бұрын
I did that for a long time and what finally got me was the constant warning on the dash. There is nothing wrong with the tank, it’s the built in sensor that can’t be replaced by itself. Thank you watching my videos.
@kevinkurtz9889 Жыл бұрын
Just want to disconnect the sensor. Changing the tank is a short term fix.
@flperformancegarage4163 Жыл бұрын
Disconnecting the sensor won’t turn off the warning. Some other KZbin channels have jumped the connection and taped it. I don’t recommend doing this because of all the electronics involved with these trucks. Thank you for watching my channel.

This is the absolute worst thing GM could have done. Who the hell can't open the hood once in a while and take a look. My low coolant light has been on for more than a year. Dealer reminds me at every service. Change the tank under warranty but that run out.

GM only ran the tank design 2017-2019 and changed up the location and design in 2020.

I had the same problem at 37000 miles the dealer charged me about $700.00 for a $60 plastic jug with a sensor in it and the labor

Sorry for the delay in responding to you, I replaced the tank, but had to wait close to 4 weeks for it, because it was on backorder and I refused to pay the dealer $138 for one. I have the video of the replacement on my channel if you wish to watch it. Thank you for watching my video.

Sometimes it’s not about the warranty, but how many days the truck will be out of service and sitting at the dealership. My local dealership has a 4 day turn around time. That is 4 days that the truck is out of service. Thank you for watching the videos.
