Coolant Overflow Catch Can Placement for Safety! Tech Tip Tuesday!

This one is universal, for any car racing. Coolant catch cans are often tossed wherever convenient in the engine bay. However, many do not consider the repercussions of the overflow overfilling as commonly seen. Whether you check your coolant catch can often, sometimes, or never it can fill up and spill over QUICK depending on what your engine is doing. The last thing you want to do is run all 4 tires over water..

This video got me thinking. Mine is next to the radiator and would dump near the front tire. I like the commenters suggestion of the overflow hose up near the windshield. I don't like the idea of under the car at the rear because of accessibility issues. Good video. Thanks

I have my Motion Raceworks catch cans out back for the same reason (oil on the tires if I blow it up and fill the catch can), I'll have to grab a coolant overflow tank to add right next to them now.

You could run a Vent line to the top of the rear bumper. At a glance after a run you can see water or water spots.

On a steet car does the coolant overflow need to be above the radiator or towards the top? I haven't seen one so low before.
