Sorry, not everyone is not listening, I certainly do. Have just bought MY16 200 series and the owner said he had fitted a catch can. Reckoned it didn't work too well, so removed it. I'll be getting one fitted soon.

Do the valves ever get stuck open on these or the 100? I've got one on ky Subaru that's about 5 years old, gets drained regularly and new elements every 20k. The valve is currently wet with oil on the outside.

Just wondering why the release valve didnt release ? Or maybe had not ever been drained. May be top of filter was pretty clean as mist entered wrong way?

I had a massive oil leak after someone (reputable company)connected my catch can wrong way around . Well company met all my expenses but I ended up leaving my brand new car 1000 kms away to get it sorted by the dealership service centre and get it delivered back to home town . Not a nice experience 😡

I'd like to ask a question please, do you reccomend a 2009 hyundai imax have one of these installed ? I have a huge intercooler and new Dayco fan and a new turbo and I had a fully rebuilt 2011 engine replaced late 2020 Just a tad over 15 months ago, the advice came from the guy who built it who lives and breathes these vans, so far no problems at all and runs beautifully, I can get just over 1000ks on hwy use and around 600 locally. I service it every 7500 th and only use 5/40 Penrite full synthetic. I want to keep her for as long as possible so would a catch can help and if so what do you reccomend please. T.I.A

I think your explanation should show exactly where that top hose is supposed to connect on the engine, just to see it disappear under the top cover is not enough.

I'm still unsure about catchcans. Some say not required, others say yes. Has anyone done experiments to clearly demonstrate their value? Emptying one every now and then isn't proof to me. What I'm thinking is.... My new diesel for long trips. Other petrol car short trips. Ensure PCV and EGR are routinely tested to be working. Change oil /filter every 5000km. Edit: Found you on FB. Even more learning to do.

Reducing oil in the intake and intercooler is 100% a plus... Look at turbo charged sports compact drag cars they all run huge catch cans to stop oil vapours going back into the intake and intercooler. Oil and soot make sludge. Remove the oil greatly reduce sludge build up.
@einfelder82622 жыл бұрын
How can you be unsure - just look at the videos of gunked up inlets due to blowby mixed with EGR - there are hundreds online. Then ask yourself how a company like Mann-Hummel can be so huge on the back of catch can manufacture if catch cans are snake oil. And I'm sure they've done the experiments you desire. You could look up Engineering Explained channel on KZbin.
