Thank you for your video. I'm curious about how many miles you drove until you got the coolant reservoir replaced ? Also, what kind of weather conditions, specifically hot weather ?

I drove it a few hundred miles but it did start to seep in a few more places. The patched area held fine. The plastic itself was just brittle and failing. I’m in Texas so it’s hot down here.

​@MJM’s Workshop mine has just started to fail but likeky been failing 4 a while . Given the symptons I've had before today ..I.e. often coolant not returning to rad . ..recently came home and exp tank was completely empty ..coolant over engine etc ..in the past I had severe h3qting issues had new hg etc . Back then had bubbling in tank it was that hot ..so likeky affected its life back then 😊

I have an old volvo wagon and the expansion tank always fails I will be ordering this week another one my 3rd one!! I just put some jb weld until the new one arrives. I am not sure why they fail the old volvo tanks. Otherwise the car is very reliable. They only last about 25k miles Mayne the old.plastic decays? Even the new ones since is a really old part?

My reservoir tank is only a year old. Just had a dishonest mechanic puncture a hole near the bottom. I'm wondering how long I have to let it sit before I run the car... as the tank does get very hot when filled.

my BMW 318i has been losing plastic parts one-by-one. The formula they used can't handle the heat/cool cycles demanded by daily use. It seems the company tried replacing crucial molded metal parts, like block mounted coolant elbows with high density plastics. FAIL. Oh well - 20 years and 240K miles. I shouldn't complain.

yeah, starting to worry about my radiator. They are known for the upper neck breaking off, I've got a spare but it's 2 years older lol.

All fixes are temporary. Eventually it all breaks

If the crack is on top , why is it leaking at all? Isn't the fluid level below that top crack?

It’s leaking pressure and the pressure can force liquid out.
