Thanks for the walkthrough! I am curious if you'd share a few details such as how long it took to build and what's the weight like? I have a 4cyl SUV and am looking for a nice roomy design to trailer and sail with my family of four. Thanks!

Hi Daniel. Happy to help in whatever way I can. Mine took me about 6 months at about 10-15 hours per week on average. Finished weight is under 400kg, so is easily trailered at under 700kg. I have a 6 cyl 4wd, and I hardly know it's on the back. The Blobster is a great family day-sailer or camper for 1-2 for inshore or lakes/rivers. Very stable and easy to sail and navigate shallower waters.

Yes, the foot well replaces a central hatch in the original design. But I saw more advantages in the footwell, particularly in rougher conditions. This has been adopted by more recent builders too. (No offense the the maestro Jim Michalak!) The mizzen is another modification, although JM does discuss the addition of a mizzen to his boats in his boat building "bible".
