Carol from Omaha: Rachel, I just had to comment that you are stunning -your make-up, hair, coloring, your dress and jewelry, even to your Valentine's nails. You look well-rested, stress-free, confident -well on the way to getting the excess off that has concerned you. Just wanted to encourage you that your efforts have benefitted you greatly. I enjoy your vlogs.

For the sandhill I use zipper by the yard and add two zipper pulls to it, it’s also easier to bind the interior of the sandhill gives it great structure, I’m just making noodle head lastest pattern the oxbow tote. Anna does have videos for some of her patterns on her KZbin. You are looking really well xxx

Quick tips about the Pogonip, Rachel. My fabric choice was disastrous. I chose a beautiful pre-quilted fabric. The welt pockets were a trial because of the thickness but I managed, don't look too closely! The sleeves are too short. I'd measured and was convinced they'd be OK but they are short by a couple of inches. Its tricky to get that right with it being a dropped shoulder. There are five layers to get under the foot to sew down the collar facing. That defeated even my heavy duty machine. I got round it by not turning the edge of the facing under. I'd overlocked the edge so it was OK. Thank goodness I didn't use interfacing though! If there's a next time, I will learn from my fabric choice, learn that if I cut the sleeves too long, I can shorten them. I will take an inch off the height of the collar. It comes up to my ears (I don't have a particularly short neck) and will catch on earrings. At the moment, it's living in the corner... Eventually, I'll remove the elastic channel from the end of the sleeves and use ribbing. I might do the same on the hem.

Hello Rachel, you can purchase zipper tapes (3 yards of zipper tape with 8 slides). It come in multiple colors. If you can't find zipper tape, look for zipper by the yard.

I learnt to sew using the big four patterns. The beauty of using bias tape as a channel for the elastic is it can easily be removed and re-placed if it is not in the right position.I would not cut the length until the waist is in the correct place. The Vogue 2021 would look fantastic in the black and white animal print.

Hi Rachel, I really enjoyed this video. I thought the Lyra dress you’re wearing suits you so well! Interesting to hear about your plans, the dress patterns are gorgeous and so interesting and the print from the subscription box will be perfect for floaty trousers. I am glad you said about the Pogonip placket, I thought I was the only one who thought the placket is a bit chunky. I am a petite 5’2” and am concerned it will look out of proportion. I am looking forward to seeing what you think when yours is done, as I know you will be honest.

What a lovely chat! I just adore your dress. The colours are just gorgeous with your hair colour - so pretty! I did a little two piece outfit for my first daughter's first birthday. She was a Spring baby also but in our corner of the world October could be fiery hot or cold and wet so I made a sleeveless dress with a little jacket to pop over and it was perfect. She was happy to wear it despite not walking solo at the time and it actually encouraged her to cruise around furniture as it didn't get in the way. I made it a little bigger (she was a big baby anyway) so that she could wear it all summer and it worked out well. I know your granddaughter is petite so it can be difficult but we sew, so it will be made to measure. I had to laugh at the twinning with Tamlyn. Isn't it funny how we can pick the same things?!

I’ve figured out what it is about the Pogonip that puts me off, apart from having to pull it over my head… It seems to cut the body off in a strange place giving odd proportions and it’s a bit short for something snuggly. I think I would be tempted to drop the ‘waist’ so that the placket was more belly area than rib area and the bottom of it was a bit lower. I think the proportions are giving me Toddler vibes… 🧐 I love the fabric you and Tamlyn chose though x
