9 years later, just bought this case for my current build for $90 new. Absolutely love it. The amount of space and modularity makes this cool case (pun, laugh now) allow large PSU’s and GPU’s to fit. Even 3000’s could still manage to fit in this case! New cases have the fancy fan placement but it’s so hard to find cases that aren’t 100% glass or have front end bays for HDD’s and old school disc drives. Only thing I don’t like; removing the front face plate. Feels cheap and will 100% wear after a while of constant removing/reassembling. This case stood the test of time and is still better than 90% of cases that cost 2x as much!

More than happy with my HAF XB. Airflow is certainly not an issue in this case, and the 'vertical' GPU mounting and horizontal CPU means no GPU sag and no heavy CPU coolers pulling down the motherboard. I wish more cases were designed with 'lay flat' motherboard designs.

@Michael Wolff if you really wanted to be extra thorough you could physically remove remove each of the front fans and clean them outside of the case. I just pop the front cover off and actually all the covers, remove the motherboard tray, remove all the cables remove anything that I think I might directly affect the force of air pressure going to the specific spot that I am aiming for with the air compressor. I don't pull the CPU heatsink or anything like that but I would pull the fans and radiator if you're doing a i o and give them a good pressurized blast of air. You'd be surprised how much dust is collected in places you might be inclined to skip over. I cannot emphasize this one enough remove power supply remove power supply remove power supply spend 15 minutes with a high powered air compressor blowing it through the power supply at every angle you can possibly think of!

I've had this case since 2014 and it keeps all my components in perfect temperature ranges. Don't forget to give it a thorough cleaning when you can. I'm always doing videos of super new stuff, so it might not be added to the site yet. Often if you go back and look at older videos (Logitech G710+ for example) there will be complaints that the link was broken, but if you click the link it works. This is because I put in a link that I knew would work in the future, but that doesn't help me at the actual time of release for the video. I work at NCIX, so it's not like I can link to somewhere else...

I have the HAF XB EVO (RC-902XB-KKN2) which has the mesh top panel. I have had it for ~7 years. I have performed many, many builds with a variety of cases. The HAF XB EVO is the best case I've ever had. I have no idea why CoolerMaster ever discontinued it; the case was wildly popular in its day. The only problem -- and it isn't even much of a problem -- is that the top panel (I have the mesh version) won't actually support installation of a 200mm fan as advertised because a) the screw hole mounting configuration doesn't match anything on the market, and b) an internally mounted fan would not permit enough clearance for any standard sized GPU with attached power cables. Notwithstanding, this is the best case I've ever used. CoolerMaster made a bad decision when it took this out of its product line.

Just bought one last week and putting together a new build for Father's Day weekend glory and serenity! This case lacks nothing. Seating 2 500gb 3.5" SATA drives in the back in Raid0 for backing up the bottom front SSD; up front in the removable drive bays will be 2 SSD's - top the (removable) boot drive OS, bottom - fast storage SSD drive/volume for lightning quick network access to other PC's across the network. 5.25" bays are DVD Optical drive, and below, yet to be determined. Thinking of sticking a big fast multi-terabyte mechanical hard disk in there for content creation & media storage. Also looking for decent sounding 5.25" drive bay speakers. Have fun with your own build!

Warning !!! In spite of HAF XB case having some of the best airflow it has a major design flaw when it comes to the cooling of the hard-disks. It has very little to no airflow at the HDD bay areas and this case is know for killing hard-drives. When I took of the motherboard trey I immediately saw why. The hot-swap bay have only small air holes at the sides and not at the top plus that the hard-disks is on top of each other very close without any fans to blow air. The other hard-drive tray is a little better as it at least have mounts for two 80mm fans. Don`t even think about mounting hard-drives other than SSD in this without mounting cooling fans first, your drives WILL overheat and die slowly if you do*. Besides the major flaw with HDD cooling the HAF XB have potential to become one of the best cases there is with a little modification and this case is really easy to modify. I have removed the side panels and put 14cm fans at top there instead and 12cm fans downstairs to blow at the hard-drives (did also removed the hdd tray and mount the drives standing up at the bottom of case). I also have a 200mm fan at the top and that fan really helps get the heat from my Zotac GTX980ti AMP out of the case. Temperatures when running GTA V benhmark is 55C at the graphics card max overclocked and 38C at my i7 4790k CPU at stock speed with Schyte Ninja 3 cooler. Thees temperatures is really impressive specially for the graphics card, my GTX980ti gets a lot hotter when I run it in a open testbed. *This summer one of my passively cooled 750gb drives died at 32Celcius ambient and that one was mounted in an open case alone with no other drives near. My 3 other drives was also really hot about 50 -60 Cecius (burnt my fingers) on the outer case but they survived. I learned my lesson, conventional spinning type hard-drives need active cooling or they get really hot and die. At normal ambient room temperature of 24C my hard-drives did not get more than 42C, problems only arose when it got hot in the summer and for some reason the HDD`s got much hotter when it got a little warmer.

Use it and modified it for even more cool. Once you get used to the huge size, you realize can do almost anything with it. Installed a noctua 200mm on the top blowing into the case. Use an alphacool 280mm in front and an arctic 140mm blowing into the case in the rear. The two feed the cooler for front exhaust. A small fan for the drive cage in the rear bottom. Zalman speed controller for the 200mm. Removed the honeycomb plastic in front and only have the first screen removing the fine one behind it. Very quiet 90% at 89 degrees for an I9. Some games wind it up but not loud like an air cooler. The Alphacool wants a horizonal mount so this works perfect. Removed the raid array box but the front rails still snap in as if it is there for better room inside and ventilation.

Now, I often travel 1 city over to visit my cousin, via public transit, and I actually bring it with me every time :) When traveling, I unplug ALL of the accessories, put them in a back pack or smaller duffle bag, and throw the PC back in the box with the Styrofoam. Shipping would cost a fortune for review samples. More than the items themselves a lot of the time. The prize for the Duke Nukem contest cost over $400 to ship to the UK. The obvious solution might seem to be "limit the regions you give them away in", but honestly it's not worth it. If I limit the region for a giveaway, the amount of complaining I get takes the spirit of giving out of me...

Bought the motherboard & processor used for $50 dollars just day ago which is a nice upgrade for me compare what I was using. Even after being released years ago both the HAF XB & HAF XB EVO are still nice cases to build a system in. That case is built like a tank and you can MOD the heck out of it and if you don't believe me search google.

Still rocking my HAF Evo XB for about 8 years. I wish they'd refresh it once more to be a big more compatible with large 4000 series cards in conjunction with a 240mm CPU radiator.

My EVO refresh of this case is still going strong. I'm going to reuse it for my new Ryzen 7 build and the lack Hard Drive space is such an outdated problem with M.2 being the future. I was unsure about this case 5 years ago but I'm so glad I bought it and kept it in good condition. I was even able to fit a 240m radiator in the front in a push/pull for 4 years using one of the longest graphics cards on the market, a Gigabyte Tripple fan R9 290X.

Very future proof esp with all the custom watercooling options. By today's standard that it only has 2x3.5" drives is no concern with cloud and NAS options out there. Coller Master obviously had a crystal ball. The case can also be modified in so many ways so for someone who likes to upgrade or tinker lots, this is the case to use :D It is a little bulky given it's footprint but in the right setting is just magical!

Still using mine in late 2020. Went from a 2500k, to a 3770, to a 3770k, to a 6700k, to a 9700k all in this case. I've used two AIO's the whole time, and the same 280mm AIO on the inside, venting to the top vent since 3770k and am running 4.9ghz stable on my 9700k 2070 RTX duo fan card, I've ran the same DVD drive and Fan controller with the original red fans i've had in it from the start. I've also got a red CRT illuminating the whole case. I've got two M.2's, two HDD's and three SSD's This case is phenomenal. not a dent, not a scratch, even though the metal is probably 1/8th inch pot metal, the engineers had the case bent in a great way and is structurally S O U N D. I've taken this case PLENTY of places, and is still basically perfect. Best case there will ever be.

I bought it for my brother. The case is strong and spacious. But one issue I see is with the front panel's fan fitting. The case by default has two 120mm 3 pin fan's which could have been avoided and reduced its cost, so user could buy whatever fan they need. If I replace it with a 140mm pwm 4 pin fan's, the place holder is hidding the wings of the fan a little. An entire circle of the fan is not visible.

recently bought this case... and its every bit as awesome as you've commented. by far the best case ive ever had. air flow is great, built like a tank, high end videocards (huge AMD7970) fits easily, as does my huge cpu cooler (Xigmatek Aegir). price was 90$ and its worth every penny. if i were to hypercriticize i would say the included fans are noisy and i plan to replace them but i never notice when im fragging chumps ;)

This case fits HEAPS... I got 3x7970's but it also supports water cooling. It says 240mm rad on front but will take a thin (30mm) 280mm with 25mm push & pull config fans plus a 120mm on the back. These are sweet cases...

Thanks for the un-boxing; it gave me a good view of the size of the case. The only things I did not like about the case were the dedicated 2.5 inch [SSD] cage and rear dual 80mm fan mounts. Support for 3.5 inch drives would be better for storage; dual 120mm mounts in the rear wouls add potential for water cooling.

I'm building my first ever PC and honestly just found this video wanting to see how big it looked as I couldn't find the dimensions on part picker. I was blown away by the information in this video though. Obviously it being my first build and me not having a computery background I understood very little but hopefully I'll be able to come back to these in years to come as I learn and upgrade my computer

I agree, should of just brought the entire back of the case out flush with the PSU mounting. Would of given more depth for longer GFX cards and mounting a thick rad/push-pull fans in the front two 120mm locations.
