It would not be that Bad actually. I have an ncase M1 were 4 fans with no Filters are installed. In the one year I that I got this case there is practically no dust in there in comparison to my Crystal 460x. I think it really depends on the airflow. I have my fan curves so low because a small case can vent heat much easier than a big sealed Metal Container. Oh fyi my computer sits on the desk, that also helps a lot

Fun fact, if there's no chips on the bottom, bottom cooling a board is even more effective, because what you're making contact with is copper on the bottom of the board and not just plastic packages which can't transfer as much heat.
@dregenius

That's true, assuming there are a reasonable number of vias on the section of the board in contact with the thermal pad... I would imagine most motherboards are chock-a-block with vias, but I've also noticed that even fairly expensive boards (like the Asus X570 ProArt) these days seem to be surprisingly thin with fewer layers than I would have guessed... I recommend getting an actual case, maybe even 2nd hand. Plus also, if you have kids, they might stick stuff into the GPU fan. Case with removable panels/easy installation. Also, when moving the PC, you may end up scratching the motherboard. I don't have kids, but this sounds like a nightmare ready to happen. :)

I have a Xproto and a XPROTO-Mini. Absolutely love the Mini for it's density; almost no free/wasted space. Although the GPU length limit in vertical orientation is rough, as is the need for a Flex-ATX PSU. Can't really use better than a 3060 Ti or a 600w PSU (which is what I'm using).

I understand this video is for fun and the item is more a novelty, conversation piece but for those who are asking the question of “case vs caseless” literally…cases are important for numerous reasons. Dust, animals, accidents, spilling drinks/food, acoustics, moving locations/homes, etc. Also, air movement over components is better than free releasing heat/air both for cooling and cleaning. Then there are physical safety reasons for children and animals from electric shock or body parts in attached moving fans.
@DruidEnjoyer
@DruidEnjoyer 2 жыл бұрын
If you are determined to go caseless, you are better off just building the thing into your motherboard's cardboard box it came in. Have a case fan kept in place via double sided tape/zip ties blow air towards the VRMs, and you are done. Paying some $179 for this thing doesn't make much sense. It's a pretty hobo mode PC, but if you are situating the PC somewhere it is very unlikely to get anything spilled/knocked on it, and you don't have any kids or pets running around, then sure. At least cleaning the dust off will be easy if you have no case.
@heygek2769
@heygek2769 2 жыл бұрын
@@DruidEnjoyer Or if you want something fancier, get a piece of wood and some brackets, paint it any color you want (or not) and just screw the components to that. you can go doublesided like the case in the video, or singleside if you want.

@@jankoodziej877 Nothing under normal use circumstances get hot enough in your PC to ignite wood or even get anywhere close to the required temperatures. Unless there's a short circuit, but at that point even most regular PC cases are in danger of catching fire, as those plastics used in them are also quite flammable under the wrong circumstances. Moral of the story really is: Don't short circuit your components.
