Have you had a lot of issues with your field piece probs? I bought the psychrometers and I love them and have been considering getting the probes.

Keep a A421abd in your inventory at least. They are really versatile and not that expensive and you can replace those automatic defrost thermostat and you'll save time by installing a thermostat with programmed defrost rather than a mecanical thernostat AND a timer... I think you were on to something with the probe being out laying on the bottom. it was probably the great weather and water in the cooler causing ice build up that pushed it out. maybe try putting it on the opposite side, slightly higher up and pushed deeper? look at all that safe wide open footing area, so graciously away from the edges. 🤣🤣
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival Жыл бұрын
There's not much I can do about the edge, I can't nail 2x4s into the side of his cooler. You could take the approach that the satellite dish companies use because they're not allowed to get off of the ladder, BUT most accidents happen on ladders. There's no place to tie a harness off to because you're going to hit the ground before it catches you. Our job is dangerous, we just got to make the best you can of.

I've been debating which wireless probe set to get. On the one hand, I've been really happy with the Testo 550 manifold. On the other, I've heard the Testo wireless probes don't have the range the Fieldpiece ones do. The 550's onboard Bluetooth has a pretty limited range and that has been inconvenient in the past. It's the only bad thing I'd say about them.
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival Жыл бұрын
I havent used the Testo pressure probes but the temp probes work a lot better than the first generation. The fieldpiece probes have good range but a crap app. Measure quick doesn't work with Testo anymore and they are wanting to much money for the product. I shouldn't have to sell each customer on letting me use the MQ app for $5 each Job. Thats to much trouble in my mind and then have to get paid back. Originally I liked the FP probes best but thats starting to wear. The Testos aren't perfect but the app works good.
@uxwbill
@uxwbill Жыл бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival I had no idea MeasureQuick was doing that. I don't begrudge a company the need to make money, though apparently they are taking a very hard-line stance by punishing anyone who takes a screenshot of the MeasureQuick software. I won't accept co-opting my device's functionality in that manner. I have a very hard time imagining that MeasureQuick is barely staying afloat. As best I can tell, they and TruTech Tools are _one and the same thing_ . Judging by TTT's blog posts, they're doing quite well selling all manner of HVAC/R tools and thus what would a little goodwill toward the community that brought MeasureQuick so many users really hurt? I've purchased several tools from TTT using both Chris' and your promo codes. Going forward, I'm going to have to think about whether I want to patronize them again or not, if there isn't a substantial revision to MeasureQuick's policies. I'd be perfectly willing to pay for a fully functional perpetual software license within reason. I want no part of software by subscription, nor to have someone telling me what features of my device I can and cannot use. (Yes, I know they say Qbits aren't offered by subscription. The point still stands. I don't want to be strung along with additional expenses.) I am a very small player who will never be missed, no doubt, but if anyone asks, it won't be MeasureQuick (or TTT) I recommend any longer. It is not my intention at all to place your relationship with TTT in jeopardy, and I will be glad to remove this post immediately upon your request. If anyone from TTT or MeasureQuick is reading this and would like to reach out to me, the e-mail address on my channel is valid.

Hello Rick, I do enjoy watching your video's. That last couple you put out are definitely not OSHA or code compliant, and I do get trying to get the customer up and running. The few examples are the units on edge of roof which equal a fall hazard, no disconnects at equipment on roof which equal a shock hazard, on this job I had seen MC or BX wire run on roof which is not rated for outdoor use. You must care for your own safety so you can go home safe to your family.

What I suspect 1- that's not an outdoor unit. No manufacturer would pass UL with that controller for outdoor applications. That said, being indoors there should be no need for head pressure control. 2- I didn't see a baffle between condenser fans. Which you wouldn't need with a non cycling fan unit. However, since one fan is out it's basically circumventing the condenser coil and just pulling air from one fan and out the other. 3- the klixon switch could be a high pressure limit. Obviously this is all speculation because I'm not there looking at the unit.
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival Жыл бұрын
You know what I think you're correct, this is the same type of unit that we have on top of the subways that are inside the building. Everything else is hodgepodge at this place so it wouldn't surprise me that somebody found it somewhere at an auction and threw it on top.
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 Жыл бұрын
according to the paint marker model number (PTT099H2C), it is an outdoor unit. *PTT = Package, Top mount, Outdoor. * the third letter N = indoor and T= outdoor. the outdoor model difference is pretty much having, crankcase heater, drain heater, weather hood. that said, where's the drain line heater? did I miss it or it doesn't exist and shouldn't it extend out the added rubber hose? the indoor model has a condensate evap. pan and no drain or heaters at all(except freezer/low temp). i think it's the same across all heatcraft/larkin package units, but you kow how they like to shake things up to screw the techs dry no lube. 🤣🤣

@@HVACRSurvival yeah well, if I was there working on it, my mind likely wouldn't remember that, due to processing all the other cruft. but that's pretty normal visual differences for majority of brands indoor vs. outdoor. 🤪
@vincentpribish9276
@vincentpribish9276 Жыл бұрын
@@throttlebottle5906 I'm not so sure I'd trust a paint marker. Do we have a specific, make and model. I know Kolpak makes these package units. Others as well. Hard to believe an outdoor unit would have louvers on the top to allow water to just pour down onto the compressor. Additionally, the controller would be in a NEMA 3R type enclosure.
