Air Canada Express is operated by Jazz Aviation LP. I use to work for Jazz as an ACA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and have definitely worked on this tail number.

Nice review! Just an FYI, Jazz/ AC is in the process of upgrading the seats and overhead bins, and as a result a lot of the IFEs are inoperative as they are transitioning to wifi based entertainment that you can access on your personal device. Some of the newer RJs (fins 722-730) never even had the IFEs or wifi installed, so these are getting an upgrade too. Hope to welcome you onboard again soon!

Glad to hear! I did see that some of the CRJs already got the new cabins. It's a shame to see the IFE going, it was so unique, but streaming WiFi etc is the way to go on regional jets.

Air Canada Express still sometimes operate the CRJ900 on some 3+ hour routes. I took the CRJ 900 with AC express back in 2019 from YVR to DFW and back. Going south just over 3.5 hours, coming back up to YVR is closer to 4.5 hours. So they really push those CRJs to the limit. I know the fly them between Saskatoon and Montreal all the time and that is often a 3 hour flight.

I flew this same route before the new gates at YYZ. In those days the seatback screens were working but they did lag a lot. I managed to watch a couple of episodes of WKRP in between looking at the realtime flight map.

Fantastic trip report, well done , i liked the little details you add, for example the AC planes on taxi departure in which u give tail numbers and destinations, good quality reporting thanks Right after take off you can see the outskirts of the new Bombardier Global Jet Plant right near the end of the airport property showing a few partially built Global Jets

Those F84-F99 gates look like they ordered a new concourse from Wish. You can see in the satellite view that the terminal was clearly built for another full-size concourse to go there, but I guess they decided they needed something much less expensive to accommodate their CRJ fleet. It's still an improvement over the old Terminal 2. I went through there on my way to Vancouver in early 2005, and it felt like I was going through customs in someone's basement, or maybe an old Soviet airport or something.

4:38 My parents flew on C-GJNZ to Washington Dulles Airport, which looks similar to the CRJ-900 you flew to Philly, but the aircraft my parents flew had the new CRJ interior, which is pretty cool.

Crazy to think it only took about an hour from Toronto to Philadelphia considering I just got back to Toronto from Philadelphia by car which took about 8hrs. The views were nice though and I was with some friends so it was a fun trip.

7:23 That’s not the only aircraft where you have to lean forward substantially. A handful of PIA’s Airbus A320 fleet have misaligned windows in the second row since they were originally delivered to AirAsia. But it’s not as bad as the CRJ since the A320 is a giant spaceship compared to the CRJ (a bit of a stretch 😂). When flying from Skardu to Karachi on, you guessed it, PIA, I also had the misfortune of having a misaligned window, which would otherwise have the best views at takeoff, especially of the Nanga Parbat (Killer Mountain) if seated on the port side of the A320. If you do decide to go to Pakistan, I recommend flying to Skardu since not only do they have the best views at takeoff and Landing, but if you visit the Shangrilla Hotel, you will find a Douglas C-47 Skytrain formerly belonging to Orient Airways (the precursor to PIA), registered as AP-AAF.

It was more airports they recently cut Montreal / Toronto to Baltimore Washington BWI after 20 plus years. Thanks you for explaining this airport.. I am ashamed it's my home airport and was confused about the E/ F Gates 😅 The terminal 1 also has a Satellite Terminal which you need a bus to get to . I think Lynx air used to use it before they went bankrupt

I flew Saint John to Toronto in a CRJ-900 at the bulkhead seat and the IFE also wasn't working. Wonder if it was the same plane. Either way though, I appreciate they do try to add amenities to the CRJ.

I was wondering what language that AC flight attendant was speaking because I could barely understand a word of it until I could decipher a few English words. He really needs more language training. I would hate to have to rely on understanding him during an emergency. I was unimpressed with those AC 90-series gates in Toronto as well. With no amenities they seemed almost institutional. The aircraft did not impress either, although it got you there. Overall, not a good look for AC.

French is one of Canada's official languages so he gave the first announcement in English followed by French. Clearly English was his second language and I agree, it was hard to understand, but this the case for many flight attendants overall.
