EXCELLENT soundtrack to this! IMO, the saturation on the SJ4000 unit really makes the sky look wonderful - the others seem a bit washed-out by comparison - however, they tend to make up for it during the night sequences. Possibly a better choice for those who tend to do more night-driving.

Great video, and I liked the dash cams that have gps built in, the best. Having Date, Time, Latitude, Longitude, and speed, really helps, I think the extra info is needed for vacations, and of course in an accident. This is a great video. It helped me immensely and I can only imagine the work and time that went into producing it. Even the music is right on target (not distracting). I had pretty much narrowed it down to the DOD ls 300w. However, California requires that these devices 1) record audio as well as video and 2) store no more than 30 seconds of video, audio and data before or after the “triggering event.” Do any of the models in the video comply with these regulations? I checked the DODls300w and could not find any info on audio or data storage (30-second requirement)

Notice that with the first test between the DOD's their angle is not the same, as in the first one recording more sky while the second one records more the hood of the car. Also notice that this is done each time when comparing the cams. One is set more to the sky and the other one more towards the hood. Which results in a different light angle, which might affect the end result drastically. And I also, I would like to know if the settings were set identical. But it does show the quality between all of them tho. Specially during night times.

Some people are really confusing Picture Quality with Picture Utility. This is meant for DASHCAM USE as a security item... Therefore the LS430W must be the winner, It had the best low light sensitivity of them all and the best day light brightness for dark details. Picture quality wise its a bit soft.. But the good side is that is more accurately exposed, with a hint of slightly overexposed. All the other cameras looked terribly underexposed in day light in comparison. The Low Light is just hands down the winner, Look at the details in the road, rails and the exposure of the sky.

LS300 would be the better choice if you wanted it to record how nice the neighborhood looks BUT if you want a dash cam that can record best in low light night driving it would not be the best choice. All in all, I think that I would have to look at price next and then decide. All of these dash cams would be acceptable for me if there was a big dif in the price. Right now I'm looking hard at the BESTEK 1080p Car Camcorder Video Recorder with 140° Wide Angle 360° Rotating 2.4" LCD on u tube. I think it sells for under $35 and has very good quality and features for that price

I noticed the cameras that had the more vivid colors didn't show as much detail in the shadows where the car's were parked on the left underneath the overhang. Excample. You could see the door frame of the building an the front of the white car with the cameras that had less color.

I didn't watch the whole video but what I saw I liked. Haifa is absolutely beautiful. One point that I'd like to make is that unless each camera is facing the same angle and distance from the windshield, quality and color tint that we see in the video may be off due to the the way the sunlight reflects off the windshield and onto the lens. Also, if more sun reflects onto a lens due to the angle, it may appear to react quicker that the camera that is next to it. Sorry but I'm guessing the use of dashboard cams isn't really for art or beauty but rather to use for documenting an accident or driving incident. Since I'm a retired photographer, I guess I always look at cameras for their artful use and not so much for their technical or scientific uses nowadays. Well, if the info that I said above helps anybody, great. If it made no sense to others, sorry. Either way, Hiafa is absolutely beautiful and we (the USA) need to help Israel defend all of her borders. Hopefully in 2016 we will get a new president that knows a little bit more about borders and how to protect them and who also knows how to treat our great allies. You should do a comparison of 360 cameras. The split 180 screens and the VR like interaction that KZbin now offers means I'll never have a forced focus POV shoved down my ocular nerve. I'm biased being that I work for Kodak because they have the greatest capture on the Y axis at 214 with the 4K uping it to 235 degrees. Anyways for the money it's the best value unless you got some major $$$ to drop on the 16 camera GoPro Jump rig.

I have a Lukas 7950 and it looks better than all of those cams. I do realize dash cams have improved since this video came out. I purchased my Lukas in March 2016 and it works flawlessly and has amazing video,1080p on front and rear cameras.

GoPro HERO3 $397 HD Hero2 $389 LS430W $269 LS330W $148 SJ4000 $59 All the links in the description Lets start with the "minus" Hero3 Expensive, You need to buy special case to charge and record (skeleton case), Overheat very fast at summer day, have a massive suction cup that you need to replace to something smaller or use the M3 sticker to attach it, low quality at night, at first setup you need to connect it via wifi to your phone to locate the right angle of the camera or buy a screen :(, you cant leave the camera in the car someone will broke in for the camera for sure. Hero2 Same us Hero3, expensive, overheat, need a special case, you dont know what you record you need to buy a screen to firs setup. LS430W Too bright and too expensive just because of the GPS module LS330W Just nothing to say :) SJ4000 Like hero 2 and 3 you need a special case and the "plus" HERO3 can record in high res up to 4k (up to, not 4k, 4k only 15fps), have a wifi remote, you can take it out of a car and use it as an extreme camera. The DOD LS300W had way more clarity than the rest - I was surprised the big $ GoPro's were amongst the worse -, but the others over exposed the video so you could see more at night. The worse day one, the DOD LS430W, was the best at night, even though it had the worse clarity.

I went with the RoadHawk Black Box Dash camera off Amazon.com. 1080p quality, starts recording when you turn on your car and stops when you turn your car off. When memory fills up it records over itself. I believe youtube has a video on it as well :-)

My vote: 300 - 4000 - 430. The LS430 is over-exposed, is there an option to lower the EV ?. This may be move ahead of the 300/4000 or at least be even. The SJ4000 follows the 300 very closely behind with just slightly less contrast. I just ordered SJ4000, for your money this is the king. Can be used also as Action Cam with all the accessories included.

I must be missing something. So many people saying the LS300 has better night video than the LS430, yet starting at 15:50 side by side, the LS300 is dark and theLS430 appears to be much brighter.

Its much brighter at the day light too

The LS430 has an exposure adjust setting to stop the system metering on the sky and retaining detail in the shadow so it looks lighter.

I think the LS430 has a better night vision than the LS300, you can see the road at night better than the other.

For me it would be DOD LS300W and second choice would be DOD LS430W. Night cam with sharpness what they got.

The GoPro was not designed to be a dash cam. It lacks features common with most all dedicated dash cam units. A dash cam should not be priced out of the commonors market. If nearly every motorist in Russia affords to have this video insurance policy we in the West should be able also.

Put the LS300 and 430 together and you would have a great cam. 300 for daytime and 430 for nights.
