Just like after 10 yrs or so they finally address the ringland/weak piston issue in the 2019 STI. The WRX and STI are boutique vehicles for Subaru and not a whole lot of money gets thrown at a low volume seller, unless Subaru has a superior engine to replace the EJ series they're keeping under tight wraps. I'm not holding my breath though.

Wow! What is super interesting(to me, anyway), is that you are measuring the external surface area of the head itself. I am guessing the actual internal coolant temperature differences would have to be even greater to cause the external surface temperature of the head to fluctuate that much? No big built motors on our Bugeye and Legacy GT, but I'm looking forward to picking these up anyway, as it surely cannot hurt.
@GetaDomTune6 жыл бұрын
IscaSullo I agree. It was also a corner of the head away from the flow path

I'm just learning about this mod so I had a question for you. In a video where someone was comparing your mod with another company's mod, they were praising yours and not the others. In the comment section the other company chimmined in with a very interesting point that I'd like to know more about. They said that if the hose mod was too big (theirs was smaller in diameter) that you would be taking too much coolant away from the other cylinders, and basically just moving the problem. Do you have any experience to where the other cylinders were to get hotter because you're moving more coolant to another area from the others?
@Dragunov3023 жыл бұрын
What company was this?
@jsquared1013 Жыл бұрын
In his other videos he talks about putting a lot of time and R&D into getting the internal sizing of the port correct so it would balance the heads and not have one flowing much more than the other. A lot of the cheap/generic knockoffs have a regular port, which flows too much.

I must have missed something. With the clamp on running coolant "normally" it was at roughly 188ish, with the clamp open running the coolant through the new modded route it was roughly 186\7ish. That doesn't seem like much of a change.

I saw 190’s and 185’s, 5 degrees difference at idle on one cylinder on the exterior with no air flowing over the motor or any stress of any kind, the numbers will only be more drastic the higher it goes in revs and drive time. For 80$ why not get it anyways? It’s not going to make anything worse lmao

Was this engine suffering from bearing/piston ring failure? The oem hypereuthectic pistons really don't slap all that much. I own a 140,000km jdm EJ207 V7 which has the forged pistons which are more susceptible to expansion/contraction. Well, even up here in Canadian winter, I would be very worried if my car sounded like this one for longer than 60 seconds after initial cold start. I'm 99% sure this engine has a ruined bearing or two, or something else mechanically wrong with the rotating assembly.
